Anyone know what pattern and fabric to use for a Doctor Who (Tenth) suit/coat? What about an Eleventh shirt? (Getting fabric from spoonflower)
There are plenty of buy-your-own pre-made suits out there, but I'd really like to try my hand at sewing the set myself. (I have rather odd proportions.) The originals materials are AWOL, and I haven't been able to find suitable patterns. (Pun not intended) Help, DW cosplayers? =) Breaking down the parts: http://spinstersandlunatics.50megs.c...o_clothes2.jpg List of details, pictures, and resources which are helpful for props and colours, but not much in terms of places to buy and patterns: http://community.livejournal.com/dw_cosplay/702493.html Pumpkiny's DW Costuming blog. Similar to the LJ, but with more.....Britishness?: http://tennantsuit.blogspot.com/ Very much awesome reference for the suit: http://static.zooomr.com/images/9734684_05c07b8510.jpg Shot of the AbbyShot officially licensed replica: http://uberscifigeek.com/wp-content/...doctorwho1.jpg Context shot: http://news.bbc.co.uk/nol/shared/spl...8685/img/1.jpg There's quite possibly a billion more shots out there, but I'm getting tired of sitting and staring. Offhandedly, here are two shots of one of the other DW costume pieces I'm looking to recreate: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_TcWHiqyb4A...ph+pic-ret.jpg http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_TcWHiqyb4A...th+website.jpg Yes, it is a Paul Smith shirt. No, I do not have money to buy one. If anyone can help direct me to patterns and/or stores, I would be eternally grateful. (Thanks to Kelley for reminding me about the pictures!) Reference pictures ? (I've seen the show - I just don't memorise costumes unless I'm making them)
Making a real suit is a VERY BIG project. It's a big deal for even very experienced sewers. You might be better off buying something used, but it's a trade-off either way. |

Thanks Kelley, I just posted several pictures.
I know it would be difficult, but I want to challenge myself. =) |
