Bhutas, that looks absolutely amazing for it being craft foam! The arm gauntlet and breast plate could likely use a little more weathering as Palaven mentioned.

Thank you guys!~! I gotta admit, I rushed the breast plate a little. I wanted it finished, but didn't take the time to really weather it accordingly >.< I'll fix it up later on... when I'm not so lazy. And when I'm not writing 4 history papers xD

Sorry about not being more specific >.<. for his tunic-ish? top and pants.

You get what you pay for when dealing with faux leather. It has a stiff awkward drape unless you are willing to pay for quality stuff. Personally I just don't like the way it hangs for dragon age type clothes because all their thin leather moves like satin for some reason.

Peachskin is a light fabric that is more like a suede or a micro velvet than a polished leather. It's drape is similar to a heavy silk, so you can add a sturdy interfacing and stitch right along that edge to get the crisp line details that he has around his torso and on his legs. It comes in many colors, but it's a poly blend so unless you want to fuss with synthetic dying get it in the shade you want it in. It's one of those fabrics you just have to touch and see to get a feel for. Jo-Ann does sell it online, but I can't vouch for the quality of it. If you have one near by I suggest asking if they have some in stock. If that's not an option and you want to feel it before you commit to it, then Vogue Fabrics does have swatches for a dollar, but no dark brown for sale online .

I hope that wasn't overly complicated. I have some scraps, and if I get the time I'll try to take some pictures to show you what I mean.

Bhutas, very nice! I'm loving the articulated gauntlet.

Ah, and I found a loophole to post my Merrill tattoos! I've attached them to this post. Still, if anyone wants the pdf, don't hesitate to ask!

Great job, Bhutas! Working on the gauntlets myself with paper origami, tape, and paint (as I think I mentioned earlier.) they look fantastic ^^ *Edit I meant yours look fantastic, not mine. I'm not bragging lol.

Very good point about the draping effect with the fake leather. I was in Jo-Ann's today and didn't even think about looking for that peachskin lol. I'm definitely doing some more running around tomorrow to find accessories etc, so I might take another pop in and see what they have ^^

Also! For Fenris's tats~ I know there is um tattoo transfer paper but with a full body tattoo I'm not too sure how that'll work out. And in white-ish. Anyway. Anyone know of a good paint that wont crack orrr run orrr.. etc etc. I have 3 shades of acrylic paint on my wrist right now seeing how long it'll take to dull, chip, or smear and so far they're holding on pretty well. Any input?

Do you mean for his tattoos? Cuz I've heard of using cream-based face paint. Here's the tutorial I saw. I've used it once for a Vocaloid thing, and it worked well.

I know, right? I plan to get a real tattoo at some point but I'm torn between way too many ideas. Putting one on temporarily would definitely help in the decision making, methinks

When I had to do fake tattoos for a lunar costume I used Mehron body paint, and I loved it. Since it's a special effects body paint it stayed on just as I had applied it with no flaking or pealing, and took rubbing alcohol to get it off my skin. It's sold in solid colors as a liquid or metallic as a powder with a mixing liquid (separately) to blend it as you need it. I think it's starts off at like five bucks for an ounce. For reference nail polish is typically only half an ounce.

I definitely suggest Mehron or Ben Nye paint. After you paint it on, be sure to powder it, and if you have a few extra bucks, get some makeup sealer, it makes it stay on REALLY well.

Here's where I get mine:

Or, similar to what Iddaknoe used, Ben Nye makes a liquid face paint too.

Back on the topic of chain mail, I totally found a tutorial on how to literally make your own chain mail from scratch.
