I'm sitting here...talking to this sophomore from school...not getting anything done...at all. I'm really tired and not motivated, but I wanted to do homework tonight. So I will do homework tonight. Except I have to write a page or so on this quote that I barely understand enough to write about it. It's BS time, yo.

I love this utter lack of time consuming homework, right after midterms, and right before a trip to Times Square for the entire day tomorrow. I get to sleep on the bus~!

So I went to HalCon this past weekend and rocked my One Penn Plaza cosplay. I entered the costume contest as Intermediate, and was one of the few people to do an actual short performance instead of just a walk-on, which the audience ate right up.

So they announce the winners of the costume contest. The three intermediate winners are called, and I'm not one of them. I have to admit, I was disappointed- the winners didn't look any better than me. I felt a bit like the architects of New York's "X-Y-Z" Buildings, after the client turned his nose up at the three finished towers. "I was heartbroken, but what the hell, we had done our best."

They said that they had a ton of honorable mentions, but didn't have time to read them off. Afterward, I talked to the lady in charge of the costume contest, and she told me that one, I had been upgraded to the Master's category. Two, I had earned an honorable mention.
Wow. That certainly took the sting off!
Is an honorable mention in the Master skill level something to be proud of?

Edit- Sakura, you get to go to Times Square tomorrow? I am jealous! I've been home from my trip to NYC for two weeks and I miss the place. In fact, I started missing NYC the minute my plane took off for home.

Amanita congrats! I'd say an honerable mention in a Masters category is fantastic! I mean... it's almost like winning the intermediate category! That must have been awesome that you got bumped up =D

I've had my share of asshat encounters lately, including one who said that designing and wearing a costume like my latest project would suggest that I am "crazy and to be avoided". And that making a couple of mentions of my costuming plans suggested that it was consuming my life and I was obsessed.
Here's the awful, scary costume in question. It's also the one that won me that honorable mention:


I live in Canada, about a 2 hour's plane ride away. It's saving up for the hotel that's the hard part, I like nice places- New Yorker Hotel FTW! And next year, I think I'm gonna cosplay as Chrysler Building, I had too many requests not to!
