It depends on the type of beer, but as with most alcoholic drinks, usually not (I don't drink much beer so I might be wrong, but it generally has a bitter edge on top of the smell).

Yah. 19 and able to drink (around here that's the legal age) was nothing even remotely close to a big deal for me, because there's very, very, very few alcoholic drinks I actually like. I can't hold my liquor and I hate the taste (or bitter aftertaste, for a lot of mixed drinks) of nearly all of it compared to water or fruit juice or soda.

You're probably drinking cheap beer. Light cheap beer tastes gross. Different beers taste differently because they're made differently.

Man, drinking laws are so relaxed over here. The legal age is 18, but people usually start when they're like, 15. It's so easy to drink underage in England. We are probably a bit too relaxed about drinking laws, but I've always thought America was too extreme on the other end of the spectrum. I mean, 21? Seriously? You have been an adult for several years by that point. And combined with the fact that you can learn to drive when you are 15/16, the difference between those two seem crazy.

Over here it's 17 to drive, 18 to drink.

Re: Beer -- I can't drink beer because it tastes like genital discharge to me. I like a tall, iced glass of your finest scotch. People think I'm being pretentious when I drink it, but it is genuinely one of the only alcoholic beverages I enjoy. Also, I look like a fucking gentleman.

Don't listen to them, Loli. Besides American macrobrews, beer is wonderful and opens up the palate to appreciating a wider variety of flavors.

How do you know what genital discharge tastes like? Wait - on second thought, I'd rather not know.

Scotch is about the only thing I won't drink. I think it tastes like peat moss.

I enjoy a dark bitter beer, but don't drink it often. It's too filling and I'm full before I feel adequately buzzed.

Ha, theres a reason England never had a space program. Not just because we're flat out of broke but because it would shit.

I don't really like scotch on its own, it's alright mixed. Sometimes I actually like to mix it with dark beer.

I like red wine, only in so much as it gets me pissed really easy so I can skip the conversation and get straight to the angry emotional passing out stage.


I'm so lonely, I wish I didn't have so much work. Otherwise I'd be curled up with a bottle of cheap plonk.
