There was a night
a night so young
where the moon,
and the stars
were not hung

and I don't,
no I don't
want to look away
tonight

As the last
star does twinkle
I shall say my prayer
for the sky is but a wrinkle

A friend that matters a lot to me, regardless of differing political opinions just blocked me, and insulted me. I'm tearing up a little.

Well... the flag procession kinda has to be there. That's the part of the opening ceremony they can't really change very much.

I thought the whole thing was awesome. Really exciting ceremony. We obviously couldn't compete with Beijing and their 40 billion drummers, so because it had to be more low-key it was (I think) more gripping in terms of choreographing etc. I loved the 'forging' of the olympic rings.

Agreed.

I thought during the musical montage sequence it got a bit cheesy at times with a romance plot shoe horned in for no reason and all the facebook guff. Like what is this a tribute to 'lads on town' chino wankers? No thanks.

But I still really enjoyed it, I don't know why some people are being so down on it. Like how exactly did you want it to go differently?

But then again some people are right wing nazi bigots.

Oh yeah. I watched that at the first broadcast and then several more times. And the cauldron for the flames was really cool, too. Also, Mr.Bean. I was half-expecting to see John Cleese make an appearance too, but alas. Maybe at the closing ceremony. The music montage was fantastic, too. I pretty well grew up on "British Invasion" era music and old-school punk (with a copious dose of 80's. As a 90's kid.)...
