I'm also looking forward to SH tonight, forum friends.

Precious Apple Bloom is precious!!

I'm not so much lookign forward to SH tonight as I am preparing myself for some cinema-fail. It's a video game movie for crying out loud, my favorite part is when I pre-game so I can be drunk in 3-D!

Apparently you're not allowed to shoot them in the face. What kind of zombie apocalypse is that?

That's still infinitely cooler then whatever I end up doing this weekend.

Both this year and last year's show had about a dozen adults enter with mostly self-made costumes, all of which looked great. Last year the prize went to a girl with a shirt with a picture of Luigi on it and a green hat, and this year it was to a boy dressed as Mario (at least his was an actual costume). I have no problem with giving kids prizes, but it's a shame that the people who have put a LOT of work into beautiful costmes don't stand a chance against a kid, simply because they're a kid. It might be worth noting that no one I recognized who entered last year tried again this time.

I have never lived in a place where Halloween parades were a thing that happened. I feel like I'm missing out on something

HI APPLE BLOOM! If that's the costume you posted in the Ponies thread, OMG sooooo adorbs. They all look spot-on perfect.
... my teenage self would think this whole cosplay thing was pretty cool, though I bet she'd be questioning a few of my character selections >_>

Agreed, good for the childrens, but seperate categories could exist, one for the minors, one for adults.

As for the whole tell your teenage self abot your current self, he'd be thrilled the results. COSTUMING?! HOT NERD WIFE?! ACTION FIGURES?! 3 GAMING CONSOLES?! ALCOHOL?!
LIVING PAST 25?!
I set standards for my future low as a teenagers. Made the wins look more impressive. Like they say, eagles may soar, but Corgis never get sucked into jet engines!**

This times 100.

Where I live there are like, zero trick or treaters, no costumes, no parties... nothing. I have never done anything remotely Halloween-y in my life.

In other forms of wordplay. I'm now calling Silent Hill "dumb butte". Thanks, thesaurus.

Guh. Everything on Coscom seems to be delighting in rubbing my inability to go to VGL this year in my face. Fuck, if I lived in Guelph or Toronto I'd literally have a dozen options for Halloween festivities.

This, they rarely even had non-uniform days coincide with it at school.

You also get to do this next week! If Halloween is still a thing.

I hardly see costumed people around here on Halloween at all. (This might be the entire "poor-quarters, no way someone lets their kids trick-or-treat on this street).

Last year all the trick-or-treaters I saw were out in broad fucking daylight.. what. You don't go trick-or-treating until AFTER sunset! That's not even late when it sets at six in the evening... overprotective parents are destroying the entire damn holiday.

That's what flashlights are for. And it's not like you're sending your 4 or 5 year-olds trick-or-treating by them selves. Gee, I hope not...

Last year I was handing out candy at StillVisions's house - there were quite a few kids out, but considering all the work that went into the decorations, I'd been hoping for more. I was nothing like when I went as a kid.

This year I'm not doing anything on Halloween itself since I have my evening class on Wednesdays Going to wear my Dragonite hoodie to work though, since it's the closest thing to a costume I figure I'll feel comfortable in.

Aw, I just found out the pet parade was postponed a week due to the ULTRA SUPER MEGA STORM we're expecting. I guess it's for the best, since Penelope is very tiny and would probably be blown away and I don't think I can train her to use the wings in time.

I'm not fond of parades in general, but my mom runs the events and, since neither of us is able to take the kid trick-or-treating, this is our only opportunity to take him out in public and show him off. Also for me to go out in public and show off. Let's be realistic.

I'm not saying I am for sure, but it's possible I'm legitimately crying for you right now. Halloween is the best non-holiday event in existence.

My friend commissioned me this coat for Blackbeard from one piece, he said mod a coat to put on the fancy gold bits.

He offered me 400 dollars and I'm like DUDE YOU CRAY ._.

Exactly. My parents just waited in the driveway when I went up, and I sported a nice bright glowstick so I wasn't hard to see. No danger at all. Also, trick-or-treating in the country gives you AWESOME hauls. Minus having to be driven from house to house. But because I was riding most of the time in the truck, I just carried three or four bags and ALL of them got filled right up. Since way fewer kids come by they'll give you big handfuls of candy. And the old couples still made things like candy apples and Halloween cupcakes. (I never got to hand out candy, myself. Mom lived in the middle of nowhere where no trick or treaters came by, and Dad lived/still lives in an apartment, where no trick-or-treaters bother with. We always got some candy just in case but we'd either leave a bowl on the porch while we. Went and trick-or-treated, or nobody came by)

...oh, and I can recall every costume I've ever worn since I had my first one at almost two. I only ever refused to wear it/go out once because I hated the costume Mom picked for me. NOT THE CLOWNS, dammit! I HATED clowns when I was a kid..)
