:/ How the hell does ER charge $200 and now suddenly another $1800.00 when all they did was examine a damn eye. No xrays, no surgery..

Last month our son cut his eye on a piece of paper so we had to take him to the ER, they looked at it, put some weird dye stuff in his eye to see exactly where the cut was, gave us antibiotics then told us to take him to an eye doctor.. How does that warrant $2k??? The actual eye doctor had only cost about $300 for 2 appointments.

There is NO WAY IN HELL we can afford to pay it, the hospital told us we should be able to get medicaid and told us to come down today and they'll help us apply. This makes me think that they are trying to scam money or something because seriously how does a 20 minute visit to the ER end up costing $2k, it's not like we used an ambulance or had to get any abnormal procedures..

UGH!

I think I see a cookie in there that's like, a quarter of a cookie. Not even half. Someone just tore off pieces they wanted.

I'm trying to give them the benefit of the doubt on that; the cookies are really soft and prone to crumbling, so there might have been some that broke on their own. You can clearly see some have been broken in half very evenly, though, and that is the work of dastardly nurses who are trying to make themselves feel better about eating cookies by "only taking half".

If the person injecting the eye was a specialist they often bill separately.
Same with x-ray techs and labs if you have cultures taken.

Speaking of medical bills - I nearly was sent to collections over a $2.19 bill for a chest X-ray reading. The collection call was the first I'd heard of it. It probably ended up next door and they never send over our mail. Luckily they didn't actually send me and made the effort to call me, since I've been sending them $12.53 a month faithfully since April.

Tell them that since half a cookie has only half the calories they can have twice as much.

Re: Health care stuff
Brando got real sick last winter and had something to do with lungs. To even SEE the doctor it cost him $100. That's not how much it cost for the visit. That's how much it was to be ALLOWED to even speak to a doctor because he's uninsured. It cost him $100 to even be allowed to speak to a doctor, another $100+ for barely a minute speaking with him, and then $50 for the medication he had to take to get well.

The doctor was literally in the room with Brando for barely a a minute or two . He asked his name, what was wrong, listened to his chest, wrote him a prescription and left.

The doctor was just the regular ER doctor on call that day. :/ He literally only held my son down squirted some weird dye stuff into his eye, told us he had a small cut then left the room to let the nurse deal with the rest (putting in antibiotics and giving him meds)... He wasn't even in the room for 5 minutes, how the hell does he deserve $1800... That poor nurse deserves more money than him, she had to hold down my son just to get the antibiotic in his eye. He was kicking an screaming the entire time. >.>"

The lady who called yesterday from the hospital to tell us about the additional bill (the $1800) was also baffled by the price. She said it shouldn't be that high since we didn't have anything abnormal happen, she was the one who suggested trying to get medicaid.

I still believe they are trying to scam either us or the government for money because for one we received the original $200 bill that day and we asked them about any other charges which they said no to. So how come a whole month later there is all of a sudden an additional $1800 bill.. I'm not buying it.

On a good note! I'm looking into different ways to make my husband Halo 4 armor. I've been planning on going the eva foam and plastidip way but after seeing some tutorials using fiberglass and resin, I'm thinking it might be easier to go with the fiberglass. decisions decisions. Hm.

Pretty much exactly what happened to us. :/ It's really annoying isn't it? couple hundred down the drain to have some person look at you for a few minutes just to confirm what you already suspected. lol

The thing is that each doctor sets their own prices. There is no real regulation to what it should cost. Each doctor gets to set their own prices as they see fit.

I took blood from a sheep, it was not unlike taking blood from a person.

You'd think.

The emergency room wouldn't even let Brandon speak to a doctor without paying a fee. It's the fucking emergency room, not a night club.

I was having a rather delightful mental picture of Blondie just going around siphoning blood from humans and sheep for her own nefarious purposes.
