By the 10 or so episode, I had shoved that show in the bin alongside so many pointless series, but I understand it's still really popular.

(Yes, I can't help mentioning this whenever someone says they just started watching SAO because I also thought it was amazing when it started, but that didn't keep being so )

I find it funny that my dad's gift to me and my sisters was three plane tickets to visit my grandparents. Which are his parents. That no one but me actually likes. Including him. Which is why he's not going with us. Neither is our mum. Which is funny because they pressured us into going this year, yet they refuse to go.

You stopped after they introduced Yui, didn't you? That part only lasted two episodes, and I think you should really at least finish the SAO arc. The ending was great. I liked the second arc too, but it wasn't AS great, and if I hadn't read the light novels I probably wouldn't have kept watching.

Yeah... I was already getting annoyed by the show by that point. It had started with a gripping introduction to the setting the series was in and went through the motions of introducing the cast very well.

But about by episode 6, the series changed from a quest to get free of the cyber world to some kind of messed up 'Sims Life' fantasy where Kirito goes onto merry little quests with his stable of slobbering female followers. The series looked like it was picking up after the fake duel death nonsense and the blacksmith semi-romantic outting, then Asuna did an entire 180 (Which I guess should have been predictable in hindsight), stripped down to her skivvies in the cyberworld where she and Kirito engaged in HOT HOT CYBER SMUT.

So hot in fact, that she and Kirito abandoned all notions of getting out of SOA. Asuna requested leave from the frontline and Kirito following her so they can have romantic little family life in the middle of bloody nowhere 40 floors below the frontline.

...this is crap.... so I thought, but I had no clue it was about to get worse. When they decided to check out rumors of a ghost in some forest and get back with this addled moe airhead that starts treating the both of them like her parents so they can also pretend to have a kid now!

I never finished the episode, I quit right there, deleted the series off my hard-drive and never looked back.

I realize it might get better later on --- the problem is that I don't feel any interest in the series any longer. Any remaining good points would only serve to mitigate my dislike of the direction it went towards.

But I will say that the first volume of the light novel has NONE of that side story/filler stuff. Which I guess you would have liked.

I really think I'm skipping my next con. I just don't see any possible way I could enjoy it with all the crap that's happened in my search for roommates. I've been hurt by too many people throughout the whole thing. This over course means I've wasted money registering for this thing.
