I'm glad I took a personal day yesterday. I feel so much more refreshed now, plus I get to leave in an hour.

It would be nice if the television were working when I got home. I'm too premenstrual to do much besides make dinner and veg.

My main concern over the whole Django controversy is that non-black people are attempting to referee the dialogue. Why not let black people have their individual opinions about it and keep silent unless asked? Better to trip over themselves in haste to explain to everyone what makes the movie "difficult" and "problematic."

I dislike both Jamie Foxx and Jonah Hill, so there's a good chance I'm sitting this one out.

The apartment is really dark.

But I don't feel like getting up to turn the lights on..

But Kill Bill was supposed to be corny, ultraviolent schlock.

I think Tarantino is one of the biggest jackasses on the planet, but I liked Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, and Jackie Brown very much.

I think this article may be relevant to your interests.
Yes. It definitely was. It touched on some general qualms that I have about movies that take liberties with history.

Well, people who are Black are participating in the dialogue - see the article Ang linked too (author is Black), the Kerry Washington interview PD linked to and Spike Lee's reaction. Why should people who are not Black keep silent about what they think? Depending on what they know about film or history, their opinions may be of more or less value to the discussion, but they still have the right to voice them. I think that Tarantino aims to be difficult and problematic in all of his movies. So what's wrong with analyzing it? Me, I'm just going to stick to Glory.

I don't mind violence, but I don't watch movies for the violence (If that makes sense?)

Just because you know what it is doesn't mean you have to like it.

I've been trying, but it's such a pain in the ass. I can't find anything I want to pay attention to. Mostly I just want to play Skyrim.

The television miraculously started working properly this afternoon-- about 5 minutes before I left for work.

She would rather run around Skyrim, methinks.

@Kils: You should give Jackie Brown a whirl sometime. I think you might like it. Violence is minimal.

I thought From Dusk Till Dawn was pretty good, and I think that's been the only Tarantino film that I really enjoyed the whole of.

I liked Kill Bill 1 because it had anime parts in it and when I was in High School no one else had heard of anime before so it made me super excited. I also didn't understand at the time that at the beginning the orderly in charge of Uma Thurman's character was pimping her out for guy's to rape her while she was in a coma.

...How old were you when you saw it? Because it's made pretty clear.
