He's got photos from the 50's and 60's to prove the massive cold and snow up there- split-open trees, super-dep snowbanks, a thermometer at -60, etc. (And the massive fish. HOLY CRAP do they have big arctic char up there.)

Don't worry, I'm no tool, but with a half decent jacket, you literally don't need an annoying amount of layers. Most jackets at Marks Work Warehouse average out to be good until -100. They're pricey, but if you're an adult, you usually buy a jacket that'll last you a few years. And if you're at all smart, you'll buy one that you don't need to layer up underneath. As you should probably know, the more clothing you layer up, the more restricted your movements get. You want to be able to be comfortable, warm, and move around well enough in the winter. Let's say you're going for a walk, enjoying the scenery down some forest trail, with a coffee in your hand. You want to drink that coffee, not work out just to take a sip.

I have had so much on my mind recently. For one thing, I'm thinking back on what happened to some friendships. I use to be close with a friend, but now it seems we just talk when the person has no one else to talk to online or very rarely. I'm just wondering did I do something wrong somewhere I sort of wish that things would go back to how it use to be, but who knows

Hell it's like 60 degrees here. I would like an inch or so of snow so everybody could freak out and I wouldn't have to go to work Monday. That's the only good thing about living in the south.

This thursday is like the first vday I have ever actually had to bother caring about. I am not very good about emotional things and especially not good at talking about feelings. I have no experience with this kind of thing skdhfksh

Canadians don't like to admit that a large portion of northern USA is also pretty cold.

I'm not denying that New England and the midwest and the mountains can easily get shitty and cold. But once you're north of 60 here, only Alaska in the US can compare. Geographically speaking, Canada is almost exclusively cold as hell. Americans at least get cold AND hot almost equally.

See the thing about New England weather is it just makes you go wtf, one day it's like this, the next it's 60 degrees and almost spring like, then thunder storms.... we have no consistency.

It's been a hell of a lot like that around the great lakes this winter, too. This winter here's been "week of no snow, dump of a blizzard, week of extreme cold, week of extreme warmth that melts everything again, repeat for four months".

At any rate, I'm very glad I shelled out the money for good new snow boots this years (Sorel. Extra warm and waterproof. I haven't had cold feet yet this winter. Worth the $226 price tag completely).
