Time Wasters

I need your help coscom!

It's test week here in Japan and I have nothing to do!!

I work an 8 hour day and if there are no classes, sit on my butt at a desk in an unheated teacher's room.

I am not allowed to have video games.
I am not allowed to watch movies on a laptop.
Facebook and email are blocked on the school computer.
You can't buy English language books in this city.
I'm too dim to read Japanese books.

What can I do with myself today? (Besides frantically checking this thread on my cellphone).

Share your favorite time-wasters!

doodling!!!!!
especially fun to do with Disney characters
one time I doodled all the Nightmare Before Christmas characters in my chemistry notebook, instead of paying attention. I suck at drawing but its fun anyways. One time I drew an amazing looking moogle, just by accident

and doodling is especially fun if you have different colored pen's

braid your hair in tiny braids

make a bunch of tiny paper stars, paper ninja stars, or paper fortune tellers

You can start on the first page of Homestuck, and rejoice that there are about 2000 more.

Oh, I am good at this! I work security, and currently I'm not allowed to bring my laptop to work, or listen to my mp3 player between rounds. Luckily I have my sketchpad, so I can work on concepts for a couple of costume ideas of mine. I also read between rounds, I'm working my way through The Costume Technician's Handbook, and a few others at the moment.

If you draw or write, notepads and sketchpads are a godsend!

I sometimes make dangerously unstable sculptures with office supplies while on the phone.

Chances are you have all you need on your desk in class to proceed

For the past couple summers I worked fulltime as a tourguide at museums and historical sites, and there were definitely quiet days....

Other then reading/studying for school I would:

- Do a lot of stretching to aid flexibility. What was even worse, is that the last place I worked at had a railing nearby, so did a lot of barre work with it. Wonderfully sturdy and at the perfect height lol also practice basic centre dance moves.

- Play with old fashioned toys. All the locations had a gift shop or children's programs one way or another, and there would always be extra dreidles, chinese checkers, ball-in-a-cup and so forth on the sides.

- Clean. ALOT of cleaning.

- I knitted at one point. Yes, knitted. While wearing a 1840's dress for one entire summer, I did a lot of knitting for appearance reasons. My coworkers and I donated so many scarves to charities!

- Write up lists. Like making up a list of things I need to get for specific cosplays during planning periods.

- Practice learning a new language. Strange, but it does help kill time. Last summer I worked on teaching myself Hungarian...furcsa, valóban.

- Another summer, my coworkers and I did little athletic things or mini competitions. One was making a predetermined guess on how many tourists would come that day and find out the tally at the end to see who won.

- Origami

I am never bored with a deck of cards in my pocket.

Otherwise knitting. Yeah... knitting.

I stare off into space, thinking about things that I can't remember sometimes if I'm thinking at all. I call it taking a mental nap or zoning out. lol practice memorizing a song? I do that sometimes, just going over lyrics in my head. No mp3 player and no real reason to memorize it but yeah..boredom...

Quite honestly, never had your problem with a job. If I had nothing else to do I would have to do data input, with is was the most horrible thing ever. lol
