Next year for London MCMExpo, I along with a group of friends are all hoping to cosplay Mario characters. However, being the oddball group we are, we wanted to put a twist on this very popular cosplay idea.
We were thinking about amping up the realism a bit and putting it into a period of history which is going to be the 1930's. I have fallen in love with this idea and everyone else in the group is pretty enthralled with this idea too. But here is my query/worry, how well would this be received by other cosplayers? (For anyone wondering, I'll be cosplaying Princess Peach being the only female of the group =]) |

I'm not really knowledgeable about 1930's fashion but seeing new different takes on well-known characters is great.
My twin remember seeing this one guy at a con last summer in Finland who did an army!Mario. It was awesome.

Wow that does sound awesome! I would have loved to have seen that! Also thanks for the response, I really wasn't sure how well this would be recieved bu its nice to hear feedback. =] In terms of what 1930's is like (if you're curious)... think classic hollywood stars like Greta Garbo, Jean Harlow, Marlene Dietrich and Ginger Rodgers. The film Bugsy Malone was set in the 30s I believe. =] Our Bowser is thinking about a Brooklyn gangster type kinda like Al Capone or Frank Costello.
Thanks for the opinion. Happy cosplaying! |
