This is clearly not true. Again, see Virginia and Texas and those are only the two that have been recently in the news. The country is, in fact, almost equally divided on this issue.

You're entitled to your views. I was just clarifying that he won't abolish abortion in his presidency.. merely transfer the decision to a smaller government where the people's opinion will be better heard.

This thread is about politics.. not Ron Paul's personal life. Judgmental.

Yes I am. Glad we got that out of the way.

If you don't think that the personal informs the political...well, enjoy that belief while it lasts.

Well, unfortunately we'll never be able to test that theory because he's not going to have a presidency. I would put big money on that. But, hey, I see you're in Ohio. Have you voted yet?

And how does his son's name play into all of this?

Yes. By absentee ballet, actually. Never in my life did I think I'd be voting for a republican. I come from a family of avid democrats.

After doing a quick fact check, I've come to learn it does not, and that Rand is actually short for Randal. My faux pas.

If he's devoted enough to the writings and philosophies of Ayn Rand to name his child after her, it's safe to assume those beliefs will carry over into his own political philosophies. Rand developed Objectivism, which posits that the correct moral path is one of selfishness. I simply can't get on board with a politician who holds near to his heart the teachings of a woman who believed the path to righteousness involved trampling on others in pursuit of your own best interests.

EDIT: Well, SV checked us both, but Paul has identified himself with conservatives and libertarians; both groups are, generally, really enthusiastic about Rand.

Well, Dr. Paul is really only a Republican by default. I think that they'd be happy if he left the party. I don't think that he'll run as a third candidate though. Like I said earlier, I do respect him. I just don't agree with him on most of the issues. And really, I'm leery of any ideologue regardless of where they are on the political spectrum.

But I think that the primary will essentially end tonight. I'm pretty confident that Romney is going to win in Ohio. Confident enough to put money on it. Any takers? I also wouldn't be surprised to see him edge out Santorum in Tennessee.

I'm not even sure she meant you. I have no idea what she's trying to convey to whom.

EDIT: Ah, she's just being fresh. I see.
