Well, I voted for an independent candidate who served in the police and as a barrister (my second choice was the Labour candidate, since he used to be on the board anyway).

I didn't want to risk the UKIP candidate slipping in, like the last time nobody voted.

No, you're not. And in her case it was obvious that the fetus wasn't going to survive anyway. Hell, she probably got the septicemic condition FROM having to have such a long, drawn-out miscarriage. (Also, I don't even think the doctors WERE following the law in Ireland, unless I misread. In Ireland, abortion is legal if the life/health of the mother is in danger, and a long miscarriage before any chance of fetal viablity followed by contracting septicemia would count.)

So...last week a fuss got kicked up when a council took a couple of children out of a couple's care because they were members of UKIP (a party which is about as close to the far right as a party can get while still maintaining at least a claim of being mainsteam).

Then, as if to ensure that the universe didn't fall out of balance, a UKIP member proceeded to take the opportunity to argue against gay couples adopting and insult Stephan Fry.

Toronto's absolute joke of a mayor finally got himself kicked out of office. I can't wait to go back to being embarrassed about the performance of our pro sports teams (except the Argos, of course) and our G20 riots instead of this guy.
