Steampunk Machine Gun

While updating my Steampunk soldier i went through a variety of ideas trying to decide what it needed to beef it up. After toying with idea of an armoured shield I decided on a Vickers Machine gun - http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a17/Owlzilla/maxim.jpg

So i've started work on it. Simplied the design a bit and changed the colour scheme. Here's what i've done so far.

Looks good so far. I am a newbie to steampunk, but I am also in the process of making a few weapons. Well actually I'm taking nerf guns I see that have potential and transforming them.

Wow, looks fantastic.
Adding the handle/crank is a very nice touch. It would indicate it into being an earlier model. Try looking up pictures from Rurouni Kenshin anime. In a couple of the earlier episodes... I think about 15-20... they have an early model machine gun. It may give you ideas on what would go on it for accessories. -they did a lot of research with that anime!
Oh! Try looking for a wooden crate ammo box. I've seen them at surplus stores for about 3-5 dollars. Or paint yours up a bit, it just seems too... new?

I'm so not a pro at this thing, but I guess that's just my two pennies worth. :/

Steampunk doesn't have to look old, just old fashion, think about it this way, they weren't old and antiquated when they came of the production line er out of the workshop.

Here's a pic of it in daylight. The box itself is from around 1930 and pretty knackered!
