If there are a lot of underwear shots in the anime, is it bad to do it for a photo?
I could not possibly dislike this idea more.

If it is in a private photoshoot with a trusted photog and done tastefully, then I don't have as big of a problem with it as long as everyone thinks it through and consents. I don't necessarily need to see the pictures, but if it's in character, tasteful, and the cosplayer is fine with it, well, it's your panties showing, not mine, so why should I care? (Though it does often come off as attention-seeking, but again, why should I care if that's what they want to do?)

Panty shots where the person isn't aware of it or doesn't consent to it are a HUGE no-no. That's a pretty big violation of privacy. Ladies, ALWAYS wear shorts of some type under your skirts! It will save you from creepers and stiff breezes alike. I don't care if it is "in character" or "with a short skirt like that she's asking for it/should know that this would happen/etc." or whatever other excuse the creeper uses, if she doesn't consent to a panty shot, DON'T TAKE IT.
I agree. If the cosplayer is comfortable doing it and agrees, then whatev. I don't want to see it, but I don't object either. Personally I'd never do a panty shot. I always wear shorts under my skirts XD Even my Selphie costume, which was a really short, tight skirt, I was wearing tight booty shorts (I guess they were kind of like bicycle shorts).

Pictures and postures that cater to the perverts of the gaming/anime demographic?

Do not want.

There's a time and place for such things, convention grounds aren't. The idea that a photographer would request such shots doesn't sit very well with me either.

I personally don't care if a cosplayer decides to take these kinds of shots. It's their panties they're putting on display, not mine.

There are plenty of pantsu cosplay shots out there, anyway, but not enough to really detract from photos of the non-pantsu variety. If you don't like it, then just exit the tab/window. Simple as that.

i personally think it's innappropriate... and it sorta gives anime a bad name... people often say anime is nothing but boobs and panties and other sexual things, but they're never seen some of the more serious things. unfortunately, these kind of picture sorta just make it seem like they're right OTL.

Panty shots are... just extremely unethical. I never liked them in anime either, so maybe I'm biased, but I just don't feel like it's something that should be done even if it's just for fun. However, if someone wants to, I suppose it's none of my business what they do. *shrugs*

Well, its better left in a personal photoshoot between the model and the photographer. Having it done in a con will attract the pervs, conservatives, and norms all in an unwanted, negative fashion.

Personally, as long as it doesn't violate who the character is (say for example, I wouldn't want to see some gratuitous pantie shot of Emma from Victorian Romance because it wouldn't make sense), I really don't give a flying flip. Its their decision and their consquences, though I'm not going to bash them for what they're doing.

Obviously, anything against the modesty of a cosplayer regardless of their gender is a no-no and grounds for retribution.

Urm no, to me it screams "attention seeker", it's just not nice to see some girls underpanties, considering I'm a girl myself. It's teasing for others and attracts unwanted attention, which, these sort of girls do not like or whine over.
You're a cosplayer, not a porn star.

It is one's decision to do this however, I, along with many other people including parents and children do not want to see some dirty photographer taking pictures of equally as dirty cosplayers doing an obvious panty shot. There's a time and a place to do this and this is not at conventions. It's ridiculous.

I've had someone try to take a panty shot of me, thankfully I was aware in time for them not to get away with anything. And that's why I wear spandex shorts underneath, preferably in the colour of the skirt. I don't want to be mistaken as a slut and have my ass posted across the internet.

Amusingly, I ran into another Ace Attorney cosplayer who did the same thing, and we took a couple joint panty shots just because it was hilarious. Not passing those around online, though.
It seems like the only things this would do is make it so the entire con would want pics of the Franziska with the "Objection!" panties, not deter panty shots!

Has it worked for you?

(Though, the idea of Franziska in "Objection!" panties is pretty amusing~ <3)

Do a panty shot if you wanna.
no wanna? don't do.

Posting them is up to site rules right? Remember what the major demographic of these anonymus viewers want: crotch, with or without a thin coating of fabric. You don't want your in betweens online? don't spread for the cam. Need your knickers to be the thing that makes you famous? spread.

Also, remember that a lot of leotards, swimsuits, etc are just as revealing. God forbid if a cammy/storm/whatever had posted pics from a slightly below crotch level....no power shots for cammy!

Being ok or not depends heavily on what you mean by "do you like cosplay panty shots? here is a link" thats too general, especially since it's a key part of the fandom, and wheather you get a rise form it or not, cmon it's a trademark.

Personally, doesn't do anything for me, its kinda shallow being about raw crotch(sexy sure, fine, but crotch shots are just not interesting). But I mean, so many directions to go here, man bulge offend anyone?

(I am the guy who if I see people trying to take panty shots without permission will grab you by the scruff of the neck and march you out or to the nearest con staff member.)
And that is exactly why I will ALWAYS wear some form of shorts if I'm wearing a skirt or a dress. I don't care if that restricts my movement. But if you try a panty shot, which luckily has not happened yet, you're going to get a swatch of cloth in your lens, followed by a swift kick to security.

Dislike. :\
Agreed. We're not the real anime/gaming/movie characters, so we shouldn't be expected to do obscene things or participate in inappropriate acts just because the character we're portraying would.
