Konan's paper wings? Lilith's demon wings?
I tried the search function and found nothing. Here's the ref pic:
http://media.comicvine.com/uploads/0...onan_super.PNG Obviously wings of that magnitude would be highly impractical, so I plan to make them on a smaller scale. If I could take a guess I'd start out with a strong wire base, add cardboard for support then... cover it in squares of paper. But I need a lot more direction than that - how to attach cardboard to the base, if I should even use cardboard, what to use for straps to make sure the wings stay put... thanks for the help! << Annnd if it's not asking too much, can I get some recommendations for Lilith's wings too? http://gamesnet.vo.llnwd.net/o1/game...21719_main.jpg I'm using pvc so it matches the costume, and will probably go with a foam base as opposed to cardboard so they can bend like that. I guess my biggest question is how to create 3D red 'veins' and still be able to apply vinyl fabric over it. Maybe thick craft foam or pieces of tubing? I read of someone using hula hoop pieces. |

I just finished my Morrigan wings to I am glad to help!
I used bendable plastic tubing from Lowe's. It comes in giant rolls and its basically in the section where you will find any time of electrical tubing. This one is just plastic and doesn't really weight anything, and I got smaller ones for on top of my head. Taped them together with plastic tape, and you can cut them with scissors. Here is the frame, http://i51.tinypic.com/95y41x.jpg Then I hot glued pleather to it. After that I covered some craft foam with fabric I liked and hot glued that to the wings as well. When I was done they looked like this http://i51.tinypic.com/rt16zc.jpg And on me they look like this http://oi55.tinypic.com/mhvb69.jpg

This may sound silly, but lots and lots of Post-Its. If you make the general wing shape with some lightweight pipe and foamboard, you can then paste the Post-Its all over it.
