Zekrom gijinka help?

I'm cosplaying a gijinka of Zekrom for Otakuthon this year and was wondering whether anyone could give me some advice on quite a few things (whew, this is gonna be a bit long):

-I'll be wearing a black braided wig, and would like to add a bright blue tip to the braid somehow. Would it be good to paint on the wig directly using acrylic model paint, or would it be better to use a plastic cone as a hair ornament, shown here and painted blue (actually the tail of a Zekrom model kit)? If so, what would be the best way to attach it to the wig?

-Going to use makeup for a bunch of black stripes on the face (like here), as well as some red around the eyes (can't use contacts, and since Zekrom has white irises it might end up looking like him anyway). Would it be better to use facepaint or conventional cosmetic/theatrical makeup?

-Thought it might be cool to have "ear-wings" (like here) and I could easily use the wings from the same Zekrom kit (shown here), but would it be better to use a hairband or to glue onto the wig directly, and how should the wings be modified?

-Last but not least, what would be the best easy way to make sturdy full-sized Zekrom wings and a harness?

Thanks

For painting the pastic piece you need a paint that will adhere to plastic and not flake off easily. There are spray paints made for use on plastic, but you have to read the label and pay attention or it won't turn out right. I use spray paint alot of plastic props and find if you do it right it looks great and adding a clear coat sealer makes it shine.
The "wing-ears" your better off putting them on a headband. the headband will give it strenght and make it sand on it's own. Just gluing it to a wig wouldn't make it strong and it might flop down or even fall off. When ever I make a headpiece I make it so the headband is hidden under the wig making it look like the horns, wings, ect. are coimg out of my head. this involves a bit more work and is not the best for someone who doens't know what they are doing and can't put the entire thing on themself.
For make up use quality theatrical make-up it will look better and lasts a lot longer. A make-up sealer will help to keep it from smudging and make it last all day. I used Kryolan stage make-up and sealer for my Jasdero cosplay which involved me painting a good part of my body gray and wearing the cosplay over it. With the sealer none of the paint came off on my cosplay and it lasted all day long even in the sun and heat.
For wings your going to need to make them and light weight and maybe even size them down so their not to bulky. If it's bulky and heavy you aren't going to want to wear it and you might not be able to pack it. The bigger the prop the heavier it is and the harder it is to lug them around all day long. For a harness I'd suggest you look at the various wings in halloween costume stores and sites for ideas. For materials to make the wings I suggest Wonderflex, but that is a bit pricey so maybe cardbroad, craftfoam or similar materials. I've never personalyl made wings, but me and my fiance are buying a pair of moveable wings for our chrono crusade cosplays and altering them to fit our needs.

I hope this helps!

Thanks! That helps quite a bit. I'm still stumped as to how to attach the plastic cone/ornament to the tip of the hair braid though :S

For that I'd suggest some how working an everyday hair clip so that you can take it off when you want and you won't have something stuck to the wig without away of removing it.

Thanks I'll probably try gluing a couple of barrettes inside of the ornament, and see how it turns out...

For the wings, I came across these on eBay:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/Adult-Dragon-Wing...em3a6006 9755

The good news is that they're already shaped vaguely like Zekrom's wings, and even have wire on the inside so that you can bend them to your liking. Though, what would be best for modifying the wings to look more "Zekrom-ish" along with spraypaint (possibly for modifying the texture, etc.)?

Draw out a pattern on cardboard and then use that when you bend the wire that way you can follow the shape easily. As for Material use something like like craftfoam. Craftfoam can be spary painted I know because I've done it.

The method described here also looks good:
http://www.ehow.com/how_6240360_make-cosplay-wings.html

Maybe would making a framework this way and adding foamcore board for the actual wings work?

I don't see why not. I sounds like it should work. Give it a try.
Me and my fiance are actually doing Reshiram and Zekrom Gijinka forms for an up coming con, but these are what we're basing ours on.

Wow those designs are quite kickass, the Zekrom was actually one of the ones I was considering for a while, before settling on my own improvised samurai-type design (or maybe one like this one).

Looking forward to seeing your cosplays, they'll definitely be very cool
