Atomic Lollipop con

http://animecons.ca/events/info.shtm..._Lollipop_2014 There's a link with some info.

I know it's all the way in July but I'm excited regardless. I'm looking to bring my Little Mac costume out of retirement, especially now that he's been announced for the new Smash Bros. coming out and more people are familiar with him and his canon. Here's to hoping there's a Smash photoshoot or something, hehe.

If you're thinking of attending, what're your plans?

I wanted to go since the second year it ran, but til I moved to Toronto, couldn't afford the extra con. Now that Con-G is no more, the budget for it fits perfectly in with Atomic Lollipop, so I'm happily going to be attending this year! I'm also VERY curious as to why they're using the OSC as a location (it's not that far from my house by bus, though, so no complaints here)

Done APop every year. it's a ton of fun, but you have to realise its a big rave thing too, not your typical convention, but if you like dancing till 3am, it's awesome.

I wanted to go last year, but didn't go. I saw the programs though and this sounds like tons of fun. I can't say if I'm going or not, but I'm gonna look into if I'm able since I'm planning Anime North and Fan Expo.

Definitely a reason I wanted to go, plus doesn't it also market itself as part carnival?

...on that note, for the "I am going to be VERY active in mid-July" aspect, I'm putting together a summer-friendly Rainbow Dash cosplay, and I'll probably bring out one of my summer-friendly cyberpunk outfits on a day. Am I right in assuming most of this is held outside?

Actually it's at the Ontario Science Centre this year. Still not far from it, though (both are on the same bus route and about the same distance from where I live).

I have been going since it started; I run the plushie workshop.

It is just a fun con where you can geek out. :P

^ Interesting (arg there website has changed!!) I might want to make it up for the one day to check it out... summer-ish cosplay ideas are brewing but I was trying to ignore it: Blue Star Sonico, Black Hanekawa (Tiger arc), or Scheherazade. lol

The OSC I a lot closer to Union drop of for us Greyhounder's.

I've gone for the past three years but after last year I was pretty disappointed. They've started catering more to the rave crowd and more and more sketchy things seem to be happening there :/ I encountered a lot of vomit.
Last year a lot of the programming didn't even happen (although that's not something new for Apop, but after 3 years you'd think they could get it together). The "carnival" space was super small and the ferris wheel was only open for 1 hour. Even the free food was pretty low quality compared to the previous years.

I feel like the spirit of the con has changed since the first year, and now it's more like just another rave than an anime convention. I liked that it used to have the anime spirit.
Science Centre might be a better location for it than the JCCC but the hotel is sooo far away from the convention itself. I'm not going this year, which is sad because I really liked Apop, but last year was such a bad experience.
