I was really unsure about going to this con (because I wouldn't have a costume good enough for such talent), and it sounded more like only masquerade oriented at first. Though reading all the info has made me really excited to attend, even if I just wander the entire weekend. I love costume workshops, and panels, and this entire con seems dedicated to that. From what I can gather, it's alright to be out of costume? Thanks to everyone who helped explain things better~ I appreciate it.

On a side note, I know staff attended a few summer cons with a booth for registration. Will you guys be at any other cons before the price goes up? Just curious... since I don't have paypal, etc...

I think I'll finally do my dream cosplay for this, Nomad from Crysis. Also, maybe a Gears of War character. If I start sometime in 2013 I should be good.

It is fine to be out of costume. For some of the messier workshops you might want to be in your jeans and tees for example, or maybe you're just more comfortable that way.

There will be many people wearing costumes in the halls and classes, but there is no judgement one way or the other. Each person can decide their level and type of participation.

Some people costume all day, some wear civies until they roll out their big costumes during the competitions.

Hahaha, AWESOME! (Date and venue, both). It'll be like Anime North a month earlier... and there's hotels all over the place so actually finding a place to stay'll be easy, so long as there's money for one. Is it just going to be the Sheraton offering convention discounts, or will a couple other hotels have them too?

Just the Sheraton. Also everyone at the convention staying at the Sheraton will have access to the Consuite on the executive floor, a cool hang out with games, snacks, and drinks service all day and evening every day of the convention.

Oh wow, I'm glad it's nearby. This will save me some money and use it towards some of my planned costumes . I was assuming it would be somewhere downtown or farther east.
Better note the dates down on my calendar. Thanks!

Yeah and thus why I'll be rewearing stuff to AN that year and probably volunteer for masquerade.
I'd probably skip FanExpo that year as well or just go for the one day like I've done in the past to save money that way.

It's too early to know at what times I could volunteer but I know that it's only the two masquerades I'll be entering and the rest of my time will be free.

*armed with a venue and dates, our intrepid cosplayer types the info into her handy dandy countdown timer*

951 days to create magic, people.

And I thought I couldn't get even more excited for a con almost three years away.

926 days: so much crazy!

I'm probably going to change my mind the year before about my Snow Queen costume but I'm so down for making my original steampunk for this. It will included feathers and thus will be expensive.

Is there a listed convention rate for the hotel rooms up already? I'd like to fiure out just how much I need to save up now... (Also, is there an equivalent of a dealer's room/artist aley, or basically much buying of anything, or should I just worry about food money and not much else?)

So I finally made my decision that I am going to come! I've wanted to make costumes from one of my faveorite childhood games (The King's Quest Series) but I couldn't decide what convention would be best to wear them at. It's an old series so I don't know how many people would recognize it, but I want to put a lot of Effort into them. So I thought what better place then Costume con!

I'll be out of school by then so work permitting I'd love to volunteer and help out!
