TS Nia Dress' Sleeves

Hi everyone!

I'm thinking of making a TS Nia cosplay this summer (http://www.cosplayisland.co.uk/files...3_r4_c2_f3.jpg) but how should I go about making the sleeves? A lot of cosplayers I've seen don't appear to have them attached to the dress at all, but on the designs, where they would attach is hidden under Nia's cloak. >_<;;

Also, should I make the dress one piece, or should I do the top part and then the skirt? I know the designs make it seem like it's all one piece, but would it be bad if I did it in two?

Thanks for your help!

You know, I would personally make the dress one piece since that's how it looks in the anime. Also as for the sleeves I think it would be easier to have them attached to the dress, less separate pieces to the costume etc. Though, if you did them separately I doubt it would change much, its really a matter of personal opinion.

The sleeves are attached. You just attach the underside of the sleeve to the dress and you can use elastic in the band of the sleeve to hold it up.

The dress is also in one piece. If you do it in two you're going to have a seam across the waist that the gold accents don't cover and it's going to look weird. If you get a stretchy material you should still be able to make it fitted by just putting the two darts shown in the top and making it all one piece.

Thanks so much, lightane and liivingdeadgirl!

The fabric I was thinking of using for the dress is left over from another project, and I'm not sure if I will be able to find the same/matching fabric if I can't do the dress out in two pieces, so that's why I was asking if it would be weird to do it in two. I'll see if I can't pattern it out and stretch a buck with the fabric. If not, I can always get more.

And thank you so much for answering my question about the sleeves. That was literally driving me up a wall trying to figure out how to attach the stupid things. It makes much more sense now, so hopefully I'll be able to get started on this as soon as school lets out. I'm so excited.
