Fabric Flames: Tulle & Organza?

I know people have used faux fur and acetate sheets in the past to fake flames.

But I've also heard of others using Organza or Tulle to make them and I'm wondering how to work with it to gets a ghostly effect and seal the edges.

White to blue edges.
