When I have a kids a boy will Jonathan and a girl Amberle. Jonathan has been my favorite boys name since I was 3. Seriously. Amberle is what my mom wanted to name me but my dad was opposed to naming his daughter after an elf that turns into a tree.

Sure looks different than the popular names the year I was born. Back then it was Michael, David, & James for the boy's top 3 and Lisa, Kimberly, and Michelle for the girls. My mom named my brother Evan in 1966 and I never met another one until all of a sudden there started being a bazillion baby Evans in the late 90s. I still have never actually met anyone with my name (Antigone).
The kids of mine whose names I chose are Persephone, Zury, and Rain (but she does use her birth, now middle, name as an alternate: FuYu). And the two whose names I didn't get to pick are Benniam (Binni) and YunJie (JieJie). Can't say the other two yet since I don't want to jinx it while the paperwork is being done, but their initials are T 'n T.

Jacob's been one of, if not the #1 most popular boys name for the past few years, Twilight's just kinda helped that along. Isabella's a new trend though, and I have no idea why someone would want to name their daughter after possibly the flattest popular fictional character of all time.

My name wasn't popular at all either until more recently (not in North America anyway). When I was a kid, I was the ONLY Kaitlyn around. I didn't meet another one for a long time. I think it was after I graduated, suddenly all these teens had the same name.. but I don't think I know a single person named Kaitlyn who is my age or older than I am.
Also, one of my friends named her daughter Alice. She was nervous about it, because there is a character named Alice in Twilight and she didn't want people to associate her daughter with sparkly vampires.. XD But she actually gets more "Alice in Wonderland" comments. She doesn't particularly like that either, but it's better than Twilight comments.

I don't plan on kids (the very best you'd convince out of me is MAYBE I'll adopt sometime in the far future, I am NOT parent material), but I'd name a girl Lily or Elizabeth, and a boy? Hmmm, probably Damian or Vincent. Vincent's for both being a classy-sounding name, Vincent Valentine being awesome, and it seems to be an awfully common/passed down middle name in my family.
I don't get, at least with some people I know who've had kids recently, the trend where I am of giving kids these sexless names that just confuses the hell out of me and usually sounds vastly boring/unsuitable. Examples, a girl being named Jordan, another one named Riley, and ANOTHER one Tristan. And a boy named Sam (less odd, but shortened like that it could be Samuel OR Samantha). Last I checked, those were all almost exclusively boy's names....
