Hey all! I need help figuring out what kind of fabric Sivir from League of Legends wears. Shes a warrior, so I was originally thinking pleather, but I don't know if pleather can make the ruffles in her skirt. I know regular cloth, like cotton, could, but using cotton doesnt seem right either. Anyone know what would work?

You could try a moleskin or suede cloth, since it looks like it might be a soft leather. I personally love working with both, and although I've never pleated them, I think either would work.

Someone said to use sateen for the sleeves / crisscross section-- what would you use for that gold lining on that flimsy fabric? im afraid its going to get weighed down.. maybe I should wire it up

Irarenovo: I'm not the best at sewing by any means, but you could try finding some gold ribbons to use as edging? It wouldn't be too heavy and can be a transparent or solid colour to match. Not sure how well it would go but if found thick enough ribbon you could iron it whilst folded in half to get it flat and smooth, ready for sewing

I'm looking at making Dynasty Warriors 7 costumes myself.
Xiahou Dun for myself http://images.wikia.com/dynastywarri...Xiahou_Dun.jpg
Lu Meng for my husband http://insidepulse.com/wp-content/ga...0/lu-meng_.jpg
This would be for end of April next year.
I want them to look good, but am on a budget (children, yay!) and not sure what fabrics to use. I've mostly done small scale sewing projects/things. I have reasonable sewing confidence (at slow speeds :P) but not so much in fabric confidence. Also if it's needed, my Overlocker scares the crap out of me.

Some of the materials i've seen that would be the better to use for a more upscale look is taffeta, silks, chiffon, lame, satin, etc. Would heavy cotton be okay to use as a cheaper substitute? Or should I be looking for bargains on the aforementioned fabrics where ever I can find them? We only have one decent fabric outlet where I live, and one not so bad independent stockist, so most/some bargains might need to be found online.
More concerned about sewing skills reflecting a lot more poorly with 'better' fabric...

I want a nice feeling fabric, with the right shades of black/grey. Preferable a fabric that I can also press the design onto. (Any info on that would be awesome but not nessecary.)

I'm going to be creating The jacket for Ash Ketchum. The original one, not one of the newer ones.

I will actually be buying two different shirts and sewing them together but i was wondering what materials would make it nice and light and it will keep me pretty cool, not make me sweat a lot.

I need help figuring out the best kind of fabric to use for Saber's Artbook Outfit. It looks to be very flow-y and dancer like. A sari fabric?

The best fabric with probably a good possibility of the edge design as seen on the picture would be a soft light brocade looking fabric. This fabric is normally among the brocades (which are heavier) but this one flows.

A nice Cotton Twill would work fine for your Makise Kurisu's jacket. If you want it to feel like a varsity jacket, then I would use a heavier denim or for a warmer fabric, something with wool (but if using wool, you must line it or it will probably itch).
