Sounds like the 6oz should do the trick for me, then. Thanks!
Oh, and just so you know, I totally agree that 316 is more interesting! The reason I'm doing 318 is because I plan to actually swim in it, haha. Since I already have the wig/makeup/other stuff for the character, I figured having an in-character swimsuit for the waterpark at Colossalcon would be fun!

(i didn't even think of satin before because i was worried about what satin is good satin etc whoops ^ ^ but i like how yours looks so i'll check it out!) Quote:
but yeah i'm a tiny bit worried about the stitch holes, so if i can find moire taffeta i'll definitely go for it, but otherwise i'm probably going to stay away from taffeta > < brocade also sounds interesting, i didn't think of that -- it could add a nice touch! i'm not really sure right now but i love these suggestions and next time i go to the fabric store i'll definitely check out all of these and see which ones i like thank you both so much!! |

I'm making jacket for my Maka Albarn cosplay and i'm not sure what the best fabric for it would be. I don't particularly want to use a thick fabric, simply because i live in Texas and it would be very hot to wear at most local cons. Is there something that's thinner, but that would still look nice as a jacket?

I just want to start by saying how wonderful this thread is!
Does anyone have suggestions for a yuuki Asuna cosplay. http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m8...739o4_1280.png I was thinking of some kind of lighter cotton for the tunic and heavier fabric for the skirt, but I'm very open to suggestions. Also any suggestions for the gloves and stockings? (sorry for only posting a link, I'm doing this via phone and this site doesn't have a great interface for phones :/ oh well)

Alright.. need help with two costumes here!
I am planning on cosplaying June from 999. I bought a pattern, Simplicity 03808 Cynthia Rowley Misses' Knit Dress and Cowl-Collar. The pattern says it is sized for stretch knits only.. does anyone have any specific fabric suggestions, or perhaps an alternative fabric suggestion? I have looked online for some to buy, and so far in the color I need I have found interlock knit, dress weight stretch crepe fabric, and a four way stretch knit.. would any of these not work/would any of them be better? I bought two patterns to try and stick together for Zia from Bastion. Refernces: 1, 2, 3. I have a McCall's Costumes (M4696) to use for the poofy sleeves and a Vogue basic design (V8346) for the rest of the jacket. The McCall's calls for shantung, silk, taffeta, brocade, jacquard, velvet, velveteen, twill, or gabardine. The Vogue calls for flannel, gabardine, or tweed. I am not familiar with most of these fabrics, nor any others I could get away with using.

I need some help with one particular costume! I'm making this: Reference! And, if it's of any help, I imagine that the clothes (in terms of fabrics, I guess?) would be similar to Sora's clothes, specifically from KH1, but I need to some extra help. If it's of any help, too, the costume is meant to be comfy and loose.
I'm making the jacket/vest and I know that the hood (maybe the sleeve cuffs, too) would be made out of a jersey or sweatshirt fabric, but I'm not sure what I should look for. For the jacket and the gloves, they're going to be made out of the same material (maybe a similar fabric to the hood?), but I'm not sure what to use either. I know the jacket needs to have some weight to it, though. I also need to use fabrics that aren't too heavy or thick, since I'm going to be in Florida when I wear it. So yup, I'm lost on what to look for xD Any suggestions would be awesome! >w< Thanks lots! Bonus points if you can point me at where to look, too. I looked at Jo Ann and found nothing that would work, unfortunately :c But yup, thanks! : D |

Hello!
I'm planning on making Summoner artifact armor from Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. http://www.creativeuncut.com/gallery...-summoner.html I would love some suggestions for what the coat should be made of. I'm definitely using leather for the belts, collar, and shoulders. The coat has me stumped, so any help is appreciated.

I'm unsure what fabric to use for Aerith's dress from Kingdom Hearts.
http://www.creativeuncut.com/gallery...ith-model.html Pattern I'm using to make it says lightweight fabric but I want something medium weight yet has stretch.

That said, I recommend going with a non-stretch fabric, especially for that dress. Why? because a jersey fabric version of that dress will just look like pajamas instead of something that can be ironed to look crisp & finished. fitting clothes isn't nearly as hard as you think and it's worth the time when it comes to being judged. I know people lean toward stretchy fabrics because they fear the fitting process, but the best looking costumes are always tailored.
