I also noticed that there wasn't a thread like the Suggestions thread, where someone can give a few reference pictures and ask for help and then the people respond. I think it would be more helpful for everyone if its all in a neat thread so that if your looking for help on a costume, you can see if its already been posted and helped. Does this seem like a bad idea? I'm hoping not, I'm hoping it will make everyone who is so helpful jobs easier. So instead of answering the same question like 50 times, you can answer it once and in more detail!

Anyways! I do have a question so I guess I'll start us off.

I am making this costume for Dragon*Con in September. I'm pretty sure I'll make the pink overdress out of a nicer cotton. But I'm a little confused on the petticoats. I would like it to be very fluffy so I immidiatly though tulle, but I would like to avoid the sheer look of tulle. because it doesn't work with the outfit's look. Do you think I should just add some lace to the end of the tulle or use a different fabric? Also any suggestions on what fabric to make the under shirt out of?

Thanks so much!
I hope this thread helps someone!

So far, here's my choice for fabrics:

Robes/Hood: Canvas
Shirt/Pants: Linen/Cotton
Sash: Poly/Crepe
Leather: Chocolate Faux Leather

I'm so bad at picking fabrics, so any help is appreciated!

(sorry for big picture)

Hey, I'm going to be cosplaying as Tsubaki for Soul Eater and I was wondering what kind of materials you guys would think would work for her?

Here's a picture:
http://nd01.jxs.cz/808/581/8596dc4279_40258703_o2.jpg

The pieces of clothing I'm having the most trouble with is a material for the belts (I was thinking that I could use vinyl, but someone's told me that it's rather hard to work with and I'm just a beginner sewer), the scarf, and her 2nd arm bands (the white fuzzy ones with a yellow star).
Those 3 pieces of clothing are just the ones that I'm having trouble with, but really, any material suggestions are welcome! (yeah, sorry, I'm not that talented when it comes to picking out fabrics...)
Thank you guys!

I'm working on making Ezio's robes right now. I would recommend against using canvas since it's so thick and stiff. I'd suggest a Linen look fabric for the robes and hood as well since you're probably going to want to move. It's pretty cheap if you look for sales. Shirt and pants I would either stick with linen or, if you can match colors, shirting fabrics for the top (though they tend to get too thin sometimes) and bottomweights for the pants.

Ariel Dress

I'm planning on sewing Ariel's pink dinner dress6.jpg"]http://www.cosplayisland.co.uk/files/costumes/1560/49282/CI_49282_1335094396.jpg[/url]) for my cosplay, and I was wondering if anyone could help me with what fabric I should use. I'm planning on altering this pattern, which says to use satin. But I've noticed that satin can look a bit tacky in pictures. Should I just use the satin anyways or is there a better option. Thanks!

Does anyone know of a fabric that looks like a pink snowball cake? I'm looking to do a Princess Version of Vanellope Von Sweetz. http://disney.wikia.com/wiki/Vanellope_von_SchweetzTo me the top looks like a pink snowball cake, the ones with coconut all over it.

For far I've found Silky Furry Fleece (which does not come in pink), Swirl Fur Pink (which I will use if I have to, but it's not really shiny) and Simple Luxuries Clip Chiffon (Which is peach but it may look pink if I line it with bright pink). None are what I want and all would require extra work.

I'm looking for pink, glossy, and hopefully not too hot. Sorry for being so difficult.

Hello everyone, I am looking for a bit of help with my first cosplay. I've been going to cons for years now but I've never dressed up and this year I finally decide I want to cosplay. I will be going to youmacon in november so I don't really need to worry too much about how hot my costume will be, but I need opinions on what cloth to use for heroic mage tier 13. [link below] I've kind of got some ideas I'm debating and throwing around, but it would be nice to get opinions from seasoned cosplayers. I've got 5 months to put this together, but I want it to look as close to the picture as possible.

Hey everyone, I was wondering what I should use for a white mage costume? It needs to look something along the lines of this. I'm having trouble deciding what kind of texture it should have, like it looks like is should be kinda silky but it also looks like it could be canvas? Help is much appreciated! (:

Hi guys! I'm planning on buying fabric for my Jolyne Kujo cosplay soon!
If you know JoJo, you also know that the designs change depending on Araki's drawings. :P
Would shiny or matte look better? Which fabric should I use?

I always thought it looked like someone just threw pure sugar on her shirt making it look sparkly rather than furry. But that's just my thoughts.

How about a crepe-back satin? The weave gives the fabric great texture and it dose not look cheap at all! You could also use a bridal satin, just avoid the costume satin. ew!

I have no idea what fabric to get for any of it. I need to order it online too as there are no fabric shops near my area so I HAVE to get it right. Any suggestions?

Hello! I'm currently working on a Quinn from League of Legends cosplay, but I have no idea what kind of fabric to use for her cape. The cape needs to flow, but still have a little weight to it. My first thought was to maybe do a slightly heavier/denser cotton. Here is a reference pic:

Any suggestions?
