@ ShinobiXikyu ; reference pictures please?
It's an original design, so I'm afraid there's none. I'm basing it off of an accurate/real-life winter serafuku uniform (no specific photo, just not the often fantasied-up ones in animes that have lurid colours and the like), but that's about it. Usually those ones look like black/navy wool or a very heavy cotton, but wool's both too hot and I'm allergic to large amounts of it. And it makes you look incredibly shapeless with the cut they use.

Hi! I'm planning to make a Wilfred costume, but as a flailing newbie to the cosplay game, I'm quite uncertain on what I should look out for in faux fur, especially as I'll be buying online.

Ref. picture: Click!

I was thinking of 'Dark Grey JB' from this website. Would this material hold, or is it simply too cheap? It would need to support this Simplicity pattern, although modifications would happen to make the hands, feet and headpiece more like Wilfred's.

Thank you so much!

As for the faux fur--good luck. The pattern I think is really good. The head piece I believe is separate from the suit. Again, good luck.

Hello everybody! I have a quick question on the construction of a SF-A2 Miki cosplay.

ref pick: http://www.figure.fm/cgm/ecommerce/f...jpg?1257518381

I think the fur collar would be good as sheep wool, but does anybody else have suggestions? And for the main dress I'm not sure what would create the smooth but floaty look the dress has. What do you guys think?

Hey there! I'll be going to Anime Fest next month and I just found a cosplay I wanna do and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for what Fabric to get for this:

http://images.wikia.com/shamanking/e...b/Anna_III.jpg

http://www.flickr.com/photos/35456052@N02/3617696743/

Mainly for the dress and boot covers. Also if anyone wants to suggest a wig, that would be great too ^-^

The first picture makes the dress look shiny and almost leathery which made me think vinyl but the way it sits on the second picture and my experience with vinyl cloth makes me think you should use Sateen. It is lighter, it looks silky and is fairly easy to sew (and you can always add a cloth/muslin liner if it is too thin). As far as the boot covers I would say faux leather would be the best, but I am not sure where you would find that at this time of year. Anyway hope that was helpful

I've no idea the material I should use. I don't want it to be stretchy (PLEASE NO COTTON. I don't wanna look like I modded a tshirt.), but not too stiff (so gabardine is out of the question)... what should I use.
I have a cosplay (Lucky Star) that I bought years ago that I like the material used on... but I've no idea what it is. I wanna use it so bad... but I honestly have no idea.
So, from looking at this, avoiding cotton, anything stretchy and 'normal clothes wear', what should I use...?
(I hope muslin is out of the question as well)

(This cosplayed used something similar to what the uniform I have is made out of, it looks like: http://i622.photobucket.com/albums/t...play/rena1.jpg
You could try to make it out of broadcloth I guess. I mean there are broadcloth shirts so I don't see why not but I haven't really worked with broadcloth so I couldn't tell you about it too much. Anyway if I was doing this costume I would try to see if I could find Jersey Knit because that stuff is awesome (hard to sew thought). However it is kind of stretchy and I don't think you would like it... from the 2nd reference picture I would say that is either cotton or white broadcloth. Anyway good luck

Definitely a thick sateen would give you that shine and is great for making cloaks out of. I used white sateen in my Emma Frost costume:http://images.cosplay.com/photos/30/3004305.jpg (I'm the one on the right)

And I used navy blue sateen for my middle skirt on my t5 Priest costume:

I think it looks like the right type of fabric!

hmmm Glover is a tough costume. Are you making it like a mascot costume? I would say you would want to use some sort of polyester soft fabric (maybe like this http://www.fabric.com/apparel-fashio...er-white.aspx). You should go to your local fabric store and see if they can help you. Or you could give more explanation on how you envision making your costume and expand on details of your pattern. It won't be easy but I would love to help your challenging costume
Anyway good luck and I am sorry I am not more help.

Hi ^^ I'm going as Nami from Dead End Adventure to Gobblecon, but I have no clue what material the shirt is made out of, and whether I can make it or not

I keep thinking it's denim but that doesn't seem quite right ^^;

Hello everyone.

So I'm doing Paine's dresssphere "Lady Luck" from X-2, and have pretty much all the pieces I need but I'm a bit unsure of what fabric to use for her top bit. Any suggestions will be very much loved ^-^

For those that don't know the outfit here is a reference picture:

I've got a pattern made for the top, I'm just a bit unsure on what to use for it.

Something stretchy, like swimsuit fabric, should work fine. Vinyl and PVC will make it just as shiny, but I haven't dealt personally with them so I don't know if they're stretchy. You could always go with a metallic stretchy fabric.

As I've said before, many Vocaloid cosplayers tend to lean towards shiny fabric, such as vinyl or PVC. I've seen people use woven cotton or other kinds of cotton and it looked just fine, though. Vinyl and PVC will be a bit harder to deal with than the several types of cotton, because you can't use pins, and the fabric will stick to the machine.

Personally I'd use sweatshirt fabric. Denim would be a little weird, but you could still go for it.

I figured out what to make the serafuku top out of, but I need suggestions on a good skirt fabric for a pleated, uniform skirt to go with it. I'd rather not have it be all or mostly cotton, because that stuff wrinkles like a bitch, but it doesn't have to be very heavy. And a minimum of weave pattern in it (like twills and jacquards or such) is preferred.
