I had a quick look through some old magazines and books: most of them seem to recommend making the head from chicken wire and paper mache. I'm not sure about the wheels though. I think you would have to use a wooden pole, so htat you can attach the wheels to it somehow.

@Lizzie: As far as design goes I'd lean more towards the first than the second. I'd just be worried about the shininess of the dress if you were to make it out of the first fabric. Since it looks to be a bit too shiny. But that just maybe due to the flash and how close you were to the fabric.

My brother is making the one for his girlfriend out of a PVC pipe, made a template out of cardboard pieces, and is covering it in spray foam and carving the shape. Then he's going to bondo and resin it. He's taking progress pictures, so I will share them when he's done.

After finishing the Classic dress, I'm tempted to do the Royal Suit one as it's my favorite. I feel good about the pattern as it the same basic structure as the Classic, it's finding the right fabric that worries me. If I do end up doing this, I might just buy FM-Anime's version.

Finding the right fabrics is really one of the trickiest parts about doing some of Alice's dresses. I've been helping my brother's girlfriend hunt down the fabrics for her steamdress (I'm actually sewing it for her) and we've been going mad trying to find the right stripe for the dress. She's actually decided to do an even more steampunked version of the steamdress. It will look like Alice for sure (along with the amazing Hobby Horse my brother is building for her), but it will have her own, original twists to it.

I have a few ideas how to make it but it'll definitely be a long project.

I actually haven't played the new alice game yet (played the old one) but i'm DYING to cosplay one of her new outfits. I LOVE the late but lucky outfit - but i'm not sure i'll be able to make it this year I know one of my friends has made the fleshmaiden outfit and I want to wear it with her but not enough time or money BOO!

Full view- I had to simplify the top design due to time (and three times messing up on the accurate version XD), but I'm pretty happy with it so far! I've since finished the ruffles on her sleeve cuffs and have painted the design along the outermost skirt, so it's just touchups with the waistband on the top, the heart on front, and then dat collar!
