Thanks! The whole set is made entirely of thick leather. I hand stitched the helmet and sheild together too.

I finished Margaery several weeks ago~ and my little group came in THIRD at Rose City Comic Con.

Here's some photos. We opted against the sheer overlay of fabric.

H~ Thank you! It was a huge surprise, and a lot of fun. I really enjoyed the con, and I haven't gotten that much positive feedback in forever. So it was nice.

So, I'm nearly finished with my Ygritte cosplay for Comikaze in LA. Will have pictures posted hopefully by mid November. Have a quick question though: I know her main outfit is brown furs covered in snow and frost, making it look white. Using a piece of the same fabric for the jacket, I tested it out with some Artificial holiday spray snow I bought off of Amazon and it gives it a snowy effect. Which looks pretty cool. However, when it drys, it becomes powdery and sort of falls off the material. Does anyone know how to achieve the same effect without it flaking/coming off the jacket/material? White spray paint might work, but I don't want it to look like paint splatters. Should I try spraying the snow sprayed material/jacket with some type of adhesive so it sticks? Any other ideas?

@celtic: I am not sure if this would work for your purposes....but you might try floral spray (the stuff they use to change the color of fabric flowers). I can't wait to see your Ygritte!!!

Hey guys,

I'm being Daenerys in her Dothraki outfit for Halloween. I've finished the costume, but it's going to be really cold next week. Any ideas for a cloak or cape type piece of clothing that I can make that would sort of go with her outfit? I know she's in the desert and doesn't wear anything like that but I will freeze without anything else!

Thanks!

Deserts don't have daytime cold, admittedly, but they'd still be chilly enough at night, so there's no reason why the Dothraki as a people wouldn't have cloaks ... even if we don't see them on the show. There's always the burnoose if you want a 'desert' feel -- big enveloping cloaks are excellent for keeping off sun, dust, or chill, depending on the cloak itself. XD Especially in similar tones to the rest of the outfit, it could complement it fairly well, IMO.

Alternatively: can you layer tights and a leotard/long-sleeved shirt in skin-tones underneath?

^ Awesome idea with the burnoose!

I've got a similar dilemma with my Melisandre outfit....but am hoping that I can get around comfortably in a hooded cloak (and possibly some thermal leggings) ^_-.

Didn't Dany have some sort of cloak or wrap at some point?

EDIT, just noticed that that was NOT her Dothraki outfit. Though, I'm sure no one would begrudge you a brown or black one or whatever for the Dothraki outfit.

Thanks for the ideas! Someone also suggested that I do something along the lines of her white lion pelt that Drogo gives her in the book. That should also be easy to make at the last minute.

^ That's a wonderful idea too! I love that it would be book-accurate ^_^.

I just debuted my Melisandre costume this morning in a local parade!! It was a lot of fun to wear, and there were some people who even knew who I was (which I did not expect). I plan to wear it again tonight for a Halloween party. Hopefully I will have some photos to share soon!

I'm going to be debuting a Qarth Daenerys gown that I had commissioned at a convention next week Since one of my favorite wig sellers is going to be at the convention, I also plan on picking up a wig for Melisandre and start sewing her soon!~ I plan on adding an LED behind the gem so that it will glow at night.
