Link costume for 3 year old

I am going to make my son a Link costume. He is 3. I tried to make myself a summoner Yuna costume, and lost the shirt during the move, and haven't had the heart to make a new one. But, give me all of your best tips and tricks.

I have pretty basic sewing skills, I've made some of his cloth diapers. But other than that, I haven't done much.

Making a three year old a Link costume is gonn'a be REALLY easy. it's basically a large shirt and a cone shape hat, with a basic brown belt. Best bet would be to look at a t-shirt you bought him, outline it on your fabric, then extend the bottom edge about three to four inches, enough that it comes to mid thigh, there's your tunic. =D
