Woaahs! So many great pictures in here lately.
Don't mind my wall of text/comments. =)

@Hexlord: Oh my goddddd hex! That photo is sweet! I've been trying to get those super wide angle/psychomania/distress shots. (That sounds super specific.. but if you read manga and watch anime.. you'll know what i'm talking about, haha.) Arghh, now I really want a fisheye-ish lens!

@Tyke: Damn man! You are a freaking graphic wizard! You nailed the atmosphere, and I also love how you made the rain bouncing off of him. The extra mile was definitely worth it.

@Surfsama: Wow, I love your http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2071/...4c651458_z.jpg picture! Has your style changed since AX 2010? I think I remember your stuff on flickr last year, and I must say it looks much more awesome now.

@Bruce: Your girls of action set is great work Bruce. The rollerblading one has been my favorite for a long time now.

---
Onto ze photos!

This ones from A/X. It's one of my favorite shots from this years con and one of my first photos with my new speedlight.

One of my friends in his angry birds cosplay! Awwww yeaaaaaa! Actually this one made yahoo news recently for the SDCC convention. Haha, good times!

Bruce, love your self-portrait shot!

Mnguyen8097 -> Yeah I think I do get what your idea. Actually the Tokina's not a fisheye lens though the UWA aspect do have a slightly similar distortion... I could be wrong there.

Haven't gotten a fish eye lens yet. Damn. :X

Ultra-wides do have their fair share of distortion, but any half way decent Rectilinear UWA will have FAR FAR FAR less than a Fisheye of any sort as fisheyes are pretty much made to distort to get their obscene coverage, very different glass for very different tasks, but thats half the joy of an SLR system

I decided to post an image that resembles the cool image Hexlord posted yesterday. The location and the extreme wide lens effect are very similar. You can see the straight lines remained straight, unlike a Fish-eye lens. I used a 16mm Rectilinear lens on a full-frame camera. Usually I have the cosplayer jump, but this time, I jumped over the cosplayer, holding the camera above my head. The red cement was colored in post.

Finally, a few days later, someone else posted a new photo. I was waiting, so it would not be me posting two in a row.

Omarukai posted a very nice Disney villianess with a great costume, pose, lighting, and location. It reminded me of a recent image I posted in my own gallery. Here's to Disney villianesses in dramatic settings!

How have I not found this thread yet?! Shame on me!

brucer007, that's gorgeous! I love the fabric sweep paired with the curves of the staircase. Also nice is the contrast between the purples and golds! Have I mentioned I wanna shoot like you when I grow up? :P

Mnguyen8097, congrats on the new strobe! They're fun, aren't they? You used it to nice effect for the One Piece photo.

Surfsama - Really like that second shot. The background colors set off your cosplayer nicely, and the narrow depth of field plays it up even further.

Aaaaand a photo from me, continuing the "villainess" theme we seem to be on:

Colossalcon 2011. Oh, this was such a fun shoot! I think every convention needs an arcade with a miniature carousel!

I second that opinion! Very fun shot indeed.

Since fotaku put up an image with Chinese stye red railing, I decided to share this image with similar location characteristics. I took mine in Chinatown, in Los Angeles. Max, the cosplayer, dressed as Batman, from Batman Beyond, was photographed at Anime Expo 2011. I am proud of how the multiple colors came out. What do you think?

@ Bruce: The purple and green are symbolic of The Joker, so I think it's a nice touch. If I remember correctly, I believe the Batman Arkham Asylum game also had a lot of purple and green tones.

Haha, nice. My photo was taken at Chinatown in Chicago.

The colors did turn out really nice in yours. The background almost looks like a watercolor illustration which I think fits nicely with the batman/comic book character theme.

Okay, so sometimes I like to take a lot of photos of myself in cosplay when I'm not photographing other people. My favorite out of many of the ones I've taken? Probably this one here of my Ryohei - thank you sunlight and camera timers while balancing intricately on stairs! <3

And then I just enjoy snap-happy-ing on others as well. This is actually from wayyy back in 2009 at the Reborn shoot a few mates o mine threw together. GOOOD TIMMMEES. :3
