Derp. Thats what i read, I took it to mean that you couldn't have sex with a man in the bed of a women (ie your spouse). I just wrote it out very clumsily.

Why would you think threesome though? It doesn't seem to suggest the women is there, just that its her bed.

context. the terminology is generally used to imply a 'woman's bed' in the sense that a woman is in the bed. the words 'mish'K'vëy iSHäh' usually are used to represent the matrimonial bed. where the husband meets his wife to have sex. for a man to lie down in the mish'K'vëy iSHäh generally means he is going over to have sex with his wife.

@others: i'm not angry or anything. i'm just talking.

Kuwait Parliament votes to extend death penalty to those who curse God, Islam's Prophet Mohammed or his wives.

http://www.france24.com/en/20120412-...ty-cursing-god

"The move to stiffen penalties for religious crimes came after authorities last month arrested a Shiite tweeter for allegedly cursing the Prophet Mohammed, his wife and some companions."

I lived and worked out of Kuwait for over 3 years, overall a very positive experience, but all the while knowing that a single "free thinking" sentence uttered out loud in the wrong company could send me to the local jail for an indefinite stay and then be deported. I was also warned about using social media in any way that could be considered "offensive" in any possible way to any religion.

In a way I am really not surprised with that headline, because when you have no doubt your's is the one true path to salvation, then why would you tolerate any other idea? By definition if you are right, then everyone else is wrong.

I can understand people getting angry. Afterall by denying their beliefs you are taking away eternal paradise not only for them, but all their dead and alive relatives, and that is something that cannot be tolerated. Better to silence these voices.

Ahhh I see. I figured it was just meaning "her bed". Do you think that inclusion was stabbed at another culture or something? Why in particular would they single out threesomes?

Thanks. I pop back here every once in a while to make sure the thread is staying civil but other than that...I dunno. I think people who have been keeping up with thus thread since it started aren't so mad at me anymore, but those that just read the first page or two tend to not be too happy with me. I guess I learned if you want to post something because you're angry about it, wait a day or two and see if it still sounds like a good idea.

And you're right. I need to stop feeling responsible for everything that goes on here because I can't control how people take everything. And I guess I learned people can also have civil conversations about controversial topics (didn't expect this would live more than a week, it's survived months).

So another mimi war has been succesfully avoided. I'm good for now.

New religion looking for converts.

http://www.usnews.com/news/articles/...lunder-america

"A Swedish religion whose dogma centers on the belief that people should be free to copy and distribute all information—regardless of any copyright or trademarks—has made its way to the United States."

"Data is what we are made of, data is what defines our life, and data is how we express ourselves," says Carmean. "Forms of copying, remixing, and sharing enhance the quality of life for all who have access to them. Attempts to hinder sharing are antithetical to our data-driven existence."

Cute, but it seems more like a philosophy than a religion. A philosophy looking to take advantage of some of the legal protections extended to a religion, in particular.

Not that that should disqualify it from recognition, certainly. If Scientology makes the cut, Kopimists should be good to go.

I just enjoy the irony of people saying, "but that's a made up religion"

Personally, I think there's a difference between making something up and actually believing something someone else may or may not have made up.

Consider the difference between "I made this up" and "This has spiritual meaning for me". Consider how one would attract like-minded people and the other would be a hoax. Are they the same thing?

I overheard my mom saying to my sister who's daughter(my niece) is in some kinda toxic relationship of sorts that she prayed against it. I've heard of praying that "gods will be done" but to say against it per say sounds strange to me o-o She said the same about my brother who's involved wit someone from a past relationship that he had alot 'a problems wit.

Makes me kinda wonder if she "prayed against" my recently contacted childhood friend that she pretty much stated suspicions about because the girl was bisexual. I've only been in contact wit her for no more then a month and I just might cut ties wit her already.

I am kind of looking for a little of advice with a situation that comes up sadly far too often.

When discussions come up in which religion and the religion of those involved is the central theme and it's appropriate for me to mention I am Atheist I often get the reaction;

"I hate Atheists they're such ass holes"
(or variations of this accusation)
Said in a laughing manner from people who are my friends. They do not seem to be directing it at me, but making a blanket statement over all. Caught off guard and naturally rather offended I find myself stumbling along and actually laughing with them and agreeing, usually saying something like "Yeah I don't like other Atheists", when this is not something I actually mean or agree with. It's something I find myself blurting out when feeling put on the spot by such negativity.

When Boyfriend tell's me he would get baptized to please his sick grandmother I don't say "I hate Christians they're such ass holes" nor do I believe it in the first place.

I am wondering how I can voice my opinion on this statement without further cementing the image of the 'radical Atheist' to them. I've tried saying "That's an interesting assumption" but this is usually brushed off and the person may either continue on their little rant, or change the topic without responding to me at all.

What exactly do you say to something like that?

I personally just keep my mouth shut, imply my beliefs without outright stating them if I have to and reherse the "religion is like a penis" speech for emergencies. Then again, if someone were to say "I hate Atheists they're such ass holes" in Britain, they'd probably get funny looks anyway.

Just say "Not all Atheists are like that, you shouldn't generalise a whole group of people."

Thats generally what I say to people they pull the "I hate Christians" one. But I understand its hard to do. If you're really friends with them though you shouldn't have to hide who you really are just because you're in a minority. I'm glad I can now say with confidence I'm a Christian because I have friends mature enough not to make fun or be assholes.
