Trying to get a bit more in shape
So i'm not at all fat but...
i love shirts and outfits that show off the stomach (and my belly ring) But I've got that tiny bit of pudge! But that's enough to make someone a bit...uneasy. Anyone have any ideas/stories on how to get it flatter? I'm at about 115-120 now, 5'4 inches. So like I've said, not big by any means, i'm actually very small. I just want a flat tummy :< Thanks in advance! |

Believe it or not, you may not have a pudgy stomach. In fact, you actually sound quite normal. What it is has to do with the way you walk and hold hold yourself. If you're like me and slouch ever so slightly as you walk, it'll make your tummy look a little pudgier. But if you stand up straight and puff out your chest slightly, it'll make you look smaller in the stomach. I know it seems like a bother to do all the time, but people have been doing this for centuries really...
But if it really is pudge and you just want to do some exercise to get rid of it, crunches and leg-ups are great for working out the stomach. The crunches handle the upper abdominals while the leg ups handle the bottom. Push-ups are also great, because they work out the whole body, tummy included (trust me, I know ^^; ). It should be noted that it's kind of impossible to get a truly flat tummy unless you want to go for washboard abs. >.>

Pilates is great for tightening in the core.
![]() Don't lose much for weight though--it sounds like you could actually stand to gain some (in muscle.) I vary between 115 and 130 depending on how much muscle mass I get in my legs etc. One time (when I was still in marching band) I made it to 145 and I had man legs lol. |

You know, I'm seeing a lot of the same general questions here. Maybe checking out the fitness sticky will help?
Anyway, Libis is right. Pilates is good with core tightening. You may also want to try cycling or swimming if you have the time. 30 minutes three times a day and a balanced diet should whack that small amount of fat right off of you. Last edited by Sabbatical : 01-26-2012 at 12:50 PM. |
