I checked the Anime Boston website but I didn't find anything helpful to the question I am asking.

I go to art school which has a Photography program. My friend Rory is in that program and is a student photographer. If she wanted to do Private Photo shoots at the con for profit, would she have to get special permission (from the AB people) or pay for a different type of badge?

We've never done anything like this before and though I could just ask the Anime Boston people, I prefer asking you guys. I'll probably ask them anyway but here first!

To be honest, I don't think so. o_O; I'm not 100% sure on "official rules" but from what I know, private photographers can do as they please when arranging shoots with people, for profit or not. The only thing I know for sure is that private photoshoots can't block up areas with high congestion (the entrance into the Hynes near Au Bon Pain for example, though I am not sure why one would want to have a shoot there. xD)

You actually would not even need to buy a badge if you want to do the photoshoot outside of the Hynes convention area itself.

Probably best to ask this on the AB website forums, as the staff is far more active over there. Or directly contact the people in charge of vendors - contact info should be available on the anime boston website, as well.
