The Madness of Duke Venomania - Kaito
At some point in the future, not sure when right now, a friend and I will be doing this version of Kaito and Gakupo. I however, have decided to take on the task of making Kaito.
The plan? Have all the harem, Gakupo, and Kaito. So far, we have Kaito (me), and Gakupo (Nefer), and a friend of mine (Deadkoibunny) said she may do one of the girls in the harem. Maybe Miku. But I'm rather curious as to your thoughts on some things regarding this version of Kaito. 1) I plan to make it so that I can take the skirt of the dress off to reveal that it's really a man. Perhaps I should use velcro to make this a successful change? 2) I'm hoping to have two wigs. The regular blue one for Kaito, and a second one to go on top of the blond, to go along with the reveal. 3) I think to be interesting, I should have a bloody knife with me as a prop, but only when the blond wig has been taken off? 4) I have no clue as to what would be a good fabric. I'm not sure I want to use something that's going to slide and slip while I'm sewing it. The skirt idea sounds cool, but with Kaito's huge-moungo skirt
I doubt that such a thing is possible .. In order to get that nice bell shape for the skirt, you'll need to wear a hoop skirt type thing underneath and I don't know of any peel-offable hoop skirts ;; Furthermore, I suspect the skirt will be too heavy to stay on with just velcro. The knife would be a nice prop- as long as its allowed your particular convention. You should check the con's rules for that one. I'm a little confused with what you're planning with the wigs? Layering? @ x @ Also, if you use pins and stuff, I don't think slipping-and-sliding should be a problem while sewing ..? |

It actually sounds like a lot of fun, the layering the wigs shouldn't be too hard because the first ones rather short and it would be like wearing a wig on any hair, but it might be incredibly warm, and if I may, would you consider instead of making a dress, buying a dress and altering it? if you would like I have a link you might find worthy:
this ---> http://www.fm-anime.com/index.php?ma...899b0ca5 fd61 It's a little on the expensive side because they make this dress for you, its not a bulk costume, and also, I think you could ask them to make a detachable skirt, it's not too hard. But, if this dress is too much something (price, extravagance, ect...) then I suggest you look at the materials they use for the dress down in the description box, it might be pretty useful. Anyway, I hoped this helped, I personally buy all of my stuff there so it's really trustworthy, and as a last note, have fun cosplaying!!

I'm going to jump in and say right now that
that seller uses images stolen from a taobao shop ( I think the user is called barura? You can clearly see that they pasted over the original watermark which says M.Obsession ) Of course, this doesn't necessarily mean the quality of the seller is bad, but I don't like it when images are stolen, so I wanted to mention it. > ___ < Also, I think even if you have something custom made to come off still does not negate the fact that a hoop skirt/ massive petticoat is needed to maintain shape and that this support will not come off so easily .. I've seen ones that detach- however, you won't be able to do anything like a "grand reveal" where you peel it off on the spot wearing pants underneath or something. If you're okey with that, a removable skirt still might be a fun idea to try. ^ ^ I was able to find a really nice skit by Saku & Lan for Daughter of Evil where Saku detaches a huge ball skirt, but if you see she's still wearing that poofy petticoat under, plus she does it behind a curtain - http://www.acparadise.com/acp/vid.php?v=5768/ You can see her removing the skirt from 1:44 to 2:10 |

Gabby, you know I love you, but I think that maybe you should re-think taking the skirt off. Having had to make a dress where it needed a bell shape... I don't recommend it. Keep the dress all one piece. It'll save you a headache. The construction of the dress and finding a pattern will be enough of a headache for you.
I like the knife idea though. Don't have it out all the time however. Only when you've taken off the blond wig. People might be confused otherwise. Though, it's sad, this is an excellent version of Kaito, but I've seen very few people cosplay it. I wish you luck with Kaito though. And any other versions you plan to make of him. *gets back to finishing Freddy and Darth*

Yeah, I've been completely re-thinking the skirt part of the dress. I will make it all one piece. My inspiration for that really came through on the weekend at Otakuthon when I saw someone cosplaying this version of Kaito (Sephiros, you watched the masquerade, you know who I'm talking about).
And yes, layering my wigs. I've done it before, and it wasn't too bad. I wore my Godai wig underneath my Ellexbriga one as a test and wore them like that all day. It wasn't too bad. Taking them off was interesting though. Ellexbriga wanted to pull Godai off xD

Well seeing as Kaito never took off his skirt, I wouldn't recommend it. Layering wigs sounds cool, but it depends when you plan to take it off. Just for a photoshoot? During a skit? Randomly during the con? If just for a photo shoot, I think its best just to wear the blond wig and then switch to the blue one right before. And as for the knife, definably check the cons rules! And to tone it down, you could leave the knife unbloodied.
I've seen a few Madness Kaitos, I really like the idea! Good luck! C: |

Pretty much going to comment, and say this before you try ordering from Fm-anime since my gf bought the same costume. This is what it looks like. The costumes, and I was miku btw, but I liked the awesome although the wig's pigtails were kind of hard to hide.
http://sirwonderousmary.deviantart.c...et=24#/d45vfxo Do not buy the wig from Fm-anime for the blond one, it sheds tons, and well it looks like that and not like it said it would look like.... |
