How to make a wig less shiny?

I just bought a short black wig from Taobao (Lucille). It is slightly shiny in the sun, I haven't tried taking a pic of it in flash. Is there a way I can make it less shiny or are new wigs generally a bit shiny? Thanks.

New well-crafted synthetic wigs are generally pretty shiny. A glossy, manageable fiber matrix is what they're after! ^__^ To dull it down to natural levels, I would recommend using a silicone shine serum before you dust your hands with cornstarch and run your fingers through. this provides body and gives texture. always gently comb through with a wide-tooth detangler comb for best results.

Baby Powder works to your advantage in this case!
