Japanese Street Fashion
Hello, I was wondering if anyone knew about the categories or labels for specific types of Japanese street fashion. Certain Styles have been popping up over at the fashion district in Japan, and I would love to get a complete list of what's new and old. If you have anything new to add, pictures and/or descriptions would be lovely.
If you're curious about a certain type of street fashion I have listed upon here I can also try to find pictures if you like. Or visa-versa, I might be able to find the type of style of your picture. Cosplay (does this count?) Cult Party Kei Dolly Kei Fairy Kei Kimono Hime Mori Girl Natural Kei Obakawa/Ojikawa Onee-Kei Onii-Kei Otome Kei Decora Kigurumi Rockabilly Bōsōzoku Visual Kei -Angura kei -Oshare kei Gyaru/Gyarou -Ganguro -Kogal -Himegyaru Lolita -you're better off at the subforum labeled "egl" for questions regarding lolita. I wouldn't say cosplay counts as fashion. Since it's a costume, really.
Also, I'm just going to say that I absolutely love dolly kei. I need to work it into my wardrobe.

I've been looking for a certain style somewhere along the lines of vintage/nerdy/school look that I've been seeing in magazines and I've finally found it! (just maybe) I've heard that it's also along the lines of retro gyaru, or study kei.

Ooh that's cute! That outfit with the blue skirt, I'd totally wear that to class. And the one on the end next to her. I love berets and cardigans and knee socks.

Love it! I just got some boots and a scarf that I think would really work for dolly kei. If I get a proper skirt, I might try a look of my own.

That's wonderful! ;A; I find it pretty hard to find some nice looking affordable vintage items for dolly kei. Second Hand shops help, but it's still hard to find things that have a Grimm's fairytale feel.

My friend recently introduced me to a type of fashion called Kimono Hime.
It deals with using a traditional kimono and dressing it up parts with lace and layering with non-traditional items. They tend to look like these: ![]() ![]() ![]() |

The items themselves? Well there are japanese-specific stores that sell some of these items. But for the most part it's just taking clothing and coordinating it into specific styles.
For mori girl there is this website called "One-Piece Shop" And for dolly kei the shop called "Grimoire" is most famous for its selection of vintage items that fit the style. Your best bet is looking through fashion specific magazines because they'll usually have the stores listed on there. |

Here are some Natural Kei Photos from this website:
http://xmossgardenx.blogspot.com/p/w...i-fashion.html Natural Kei is pretty much "think prairie-revival style" ![]() And I've just recently heard of Cult Party Kei TBH I'm not too sure what this style is. . . . I've heard it's a lot like dolly kei, only less patterns more solids, and sometimes featuring gingham prints? Source: http://www.myasianfashion.com/forums...ult-Party-Kei/ ![]() |

Onee-Kei or Onee Gal
which is a fairly older mature look that is sort of derived from the gyaruu fashion. ![]() the guy version would be called Onii-Kei ![]() There happens to be more male fashion style names at this source: http://www.jmode.com/fashion/trend5.htm but there are no photos. Explains: Mode-kei or High fashion kei Urahara-kei (Street) Salon-Boy Kireime Extreme (aka street) |

Cult Party Kei is like a purely light colors and pastel version of dolly kei, which branches into dark colors and light colors. They aim for a more sweet, innocent look, with less ethnic influences.
This post has some good information on the style and how it differs from dolly kei. |
