But I know very little on latex/gore/zombie special effects. The most I've worked with liquid latex other than doing small makeup like scars and wounds. So beyond that, my knowledge goes blank on where to start.
So I'm pretty much asking if anyone has suggestions on where to start? I'm willing to get pretty gritty and dirty to get the look to be as grimy as it is in the game. The smock that he wears, I was thinking canvas material, but that seams too stiff and that it might get hard and "crunchy" after awhile, if you know what I mean.
And for the face/mask, I'm curious on what suggestions you'd have to make it so I can see without tripping or running into to many things, and make it easy to breath in. I'm not claustrophobic, so that's not a problem. But I'd plan on wearing Valtiel for a good portion of the day.
I'd love to have someone to bounce ideas off of, since what friends I do have that cosplay are hesitant to help me out because "Silent Hill is too gross/scary" for their cosplay tastes.
So if anyone has any suggestions, do let me know! I'd be most appreciative!
I pretty much Magievered a nurse mask about a year ago. You can actually make your own mask if you get a few cheap things for the head.
Liquid latex will be the most expensive (I recommend "mold builder" from "Castin' Craft", you can get this at most Michael's or Hobby shops), a styrofoam head for wig modeling (you can usually buy discounted ones at beauty supply stores), and some molding tools to stick under your foundation.
Cotton-balls make for excellent lumps and bumps and boils or a good raised foundation to cover your mask under newspaper, and yarn makes for excellent veins and lines.
Overall you want to put at least four or five coats of the liquid latex down to bond it to the mask then start working on making a cap for the head and fixing elastic straps to it to hold it to your face. Then once you have it looking like Valtiel, paint him with acrylic paint, then varnish or glaze depending on how glossy you want the mask to look.
I hope this helped!
