just watched "When the last sword is drawn"
A very beautiful samurai movie about a samurai that leaves his clan behind to join the Shinsengumi.

Yeah I was aware of that, in fact the original "the thing" was seen playing on the tv in john carpenter's film "Halloween". But the 1982 film is so far removed from the 1950s movie that it is basically just a remake in name only.

Watched Super 8. It was pretty good. The story was kind of weak, but the effects and photography were great. Of course with Abrams and Spielberg involved you would expect that. I'd give it 4/5.

The Immortals -
'From the creators of 300' was the tag line that reeled me in.
Not great story or character development etc, but hell, its got epic battles and CGI, so its worth it just for the visuals.
Spoiler alert - it is worth watching just for the last 10 seconds of the film.
SPOILER: (highlight to read)
There is a cloud... in the sky... made of PEOPLE, and they are all battling each other. Its pretty freakin' BADASS
But like I said, the story is pretty crappy, and the guy that plays Theseus thinks he is better than me, with his rock hard abs and dynamite areolas. Well he's not.
3/5 - its entertaining enough, but it ain't no 300.

Hugo - 5/5
An unexpectedly good movie. The trailers made it look like it was going to be a certain kind of movie, but was pleasantly surprised to see it wasn't anything that I thought it was gonna be.

Watched "A Clockwork Orange" in HD. Always loved that film, but watching "a bit of the old ultra-violence" in HD was great. Highly recommend for those who haven't seen it.

Watched "You Are Umasou" via YouTube [Part 1].
It's a animated Japanese movie about dinosaurs. It's pretty unrealistic due to some of the dinosaurs using martial arts, but it's a really cute movie for what it is. The story follows the adoption of a meat eater into a family of leaf eaters (I'm being very vauge, don't want to spoil anything.) The majority of the animation is very simplistic, but it works for this movie. I found some parts predictable, but that's just me. Watch it for yourself and be the judge of that!

Santa's Slay - 3/5
Some good old fashion, unneeded, violence. With Bill Goldberg as a homicidal Santa Claus. Tis the season.
