Rewatched "Chronicle" over the weekend, which remains solid. I dug the hell out of it, and I usually hate on the "found footage" genre pretty harsh. Max Landis did write the hell out of that script though.

House Bunny: 3.5/5
I can say with confidence that House Bunny was a movie that desperately wanted to be both Legally Blonde and American Pie simultaneously. Did it work? Eeehhh, it had it's moments; when it was good it was really enjoyable, and when it was bad it was poor, and strained, and dubiously acted. Emma Stone and Kat Dennings being in the same Goddamn film are honestly the only reason this is rated anywhere close to a 4. These women complete me and seeing them work together seamlessly was fantastic. And I really do have a soft spot for Elle Woods-type characters. Particularly ones that physically can't control themselves over their overwhelming need to be exactly like her. EDIT: There are also a couple scenes that alchemically transcend feminist nightmare-fuel. Lead-to-gold alchemical transcendence. The ending video, for example. Though, comparatively the male characters (with the exception of about one) were treated even worse by making every human with external genitalia a shallow, chauvinistic, nymphomanic, misogynistic nugget of feces.

I saw Rise of the Guardians the other day, but I imagine everyone's heard so much about that lately that holiday cheer is slowly leaking out their ears.
There was also part of an Indiana Jones movie somewhere in there, but since I can't remember which one and it was only a couple hours ago, I couldn't have been too moved by it.

"The Collection" which was a sequel to the 2009 film "The Collector"
The sequel is very bloody, gory, suspenseful, and overall pretty good. I definitely plan to buy the 2-movie pack on Blu-Ray when it comes out. ![]()

Saw Cloud Atlas, and aside from some changes, I think some of it I liked better than the book. That is rare for me!

"The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey". Enjoyable, but I dont think 3D added anything to the overall experience. The film isn't as good as "Fellowship", IMO. But it's still better than most of what Hollywood puts out nowadays.

I went and saw the Hobbit, with IMAX, 48FPS, and 3D. Still hate 3D.
48FPS is GORGEOUS. But I think it will only work in movies with real sets for EVERYTHING. I loved how REAL the whole thing felt, but you were acutely aware when something was CGI. 3.5/5. Mediocre adaptation that felt like a Peter Jackson fanfic of the Hobbit at times, but still enjoyable.

I saw The Hobbit at a midnight release - 4.5/5 - I didn't understand the need for some of the changes, but it was good overall
Last night we watched The Nightmare Before Christmas (5/5) and The Devil's Carnival (4/5). I really liked Devil's Carnival but the best song was during the credits.
