How terrible. This was an important piece of my childhood and you didn't see it until 12 years after its release

Watched Bad Teacher last night at Kator's.

1/5

She started the movie and said "Oh I can't believe you agreed to watch this with me. Everyone else hates it... hm. I wonder why...?"

The storyline was painfully slow and none of the characters were likable. I didn't want any of them to come out on top at the end. The movie dragged on for so long that we were yelling at the screen for someone to bone and freaking end it already. A 97 minute movie should NOT feel like 3 hours.

We watched the "Unrated" version, figuring "We're adults. We can handle a boob and some extra cursing." NO. That movie had random boobage for no reason. When it pertains to the plot, fine. Whatever. But if there is absolutely no reason for it.. TAKE IT AWAY.

This movie made me rage harder than Dinner for Schmucks, except at the end of Dinner for Schmucks.. you don't want to kill all of them. That part comes in the middle, right before Paul Rudd grows a conscience.

Saw Drive the other night and seriously haven't stopped going on about it. I loved everything about it; listening to the soundtrack right now. Defo doing a Driver cosplay next year!

It was actually sort of a first date as well, I think a pretty good choice of film even despite the ultra violence.

5 arbitrary enjoyment points out of 5.

I saw the new Green Lantern last night. It wasn't as bad as I expected. I mean, its hardly oscar winning stuff, but it was pretty good fun.

3/5

Puss in Boots - 5/5

Much, much better than I was expecting it to be (what with all the Shrek movies sucking after the 2nd one). Puss's character is so much better in this movie than he EVER was along side Donkey.

Watched "Thor". It was pretty much what i expected. Good enough film, but not groundbreaking. 3.5/5

retro movie tip - for fans of asian cinema, check out the trilogy of movies for "Honzo the Razor." They are Japanese films from the 70s. If you watch only one check out "The Snare" the second in the series. I first watched this movie on IFC at 2am. Definately not family friendly movies, but those looking for something they have never seen before will not be disappointed.

The character of "Manzo the saw" from Samurai Champloo was inspired by the "Hanzo the razor" character.

I watched ...Monsters? last night.

It was about this journalist bringing his boss's daughter back to America from Mexico through an infected jungle filled with aliens that looked like Squidward on steroids.

2/5 because the aliens looked cool. Other than that, I didn't understand why they had to make the movie. I feel like it was supposed to be a big OMG!political thing, but it was incredibly boring. One "fight" scene. ONE. Don't promise me aliens and then not have fighting. Nonsense.

Just Friends

5/5

Just all around funny and entertaining. A real twist on the typical "best friends fall in love" story line

Watched X-Men: First Class. I thought it was better than the last one, but not as good as the first movie. I'd give it 3.5/5.

5/5. It was really sad but really good. It made me cry, which is hard to do and I'm surprised that Seth Rogan did a good job in this.

You don't understaaaaaaannnnndddddd!!

I love the film actually. It's beautifully shot and the electronica soundtrack adds a lot to it I think. Just because the film is called one thing that really doesn't mean anything, you're not judging the book by its cover. It's not trying to be Godzilla, even though its called monsters they probably could have done the whole thing without any creatures on screen, because in the end the monsters themselves are irrelevant to the bigger picture and the interactions between the boy and hte girl. The whole thing is really an allegory for what its like to live under a millitary occupation ie Iraq.

But hey if you don't like it whatever, its your opinion. I just don't like this thing where people get anoyed when a film isn't what they thought it was going to be based purely on the title. I've never seen a film based purely on the title, how hard is it to find out even a little bit more about a film I say. A trailer, a review, stick its name in to imdb, anything just find out a bit more before go and disapoint yourself.

Last film I saw was Tyrannosaur. Theres a misleading title for you, no dinosaurs in the whole film. Instead of Jurassic park what it is is infact a brutally uncomprimising and gritty British drama about anger violence and domestic abuse.

The film had me sobbing most of the way through, in the first 2 minutes even. It opens with a man drunk and angry kicking his dog to death and imediately regretting it. You might not believe me when I say that he then goes on to become a character you fully feel empathy for and root for by the end of the film; but it's a testament to both the actors and the director that they can achieve such a transformation with what is initially such a terrifying character, probably also because there is another character even more hideous and sinister than him. It says something about a film when the most cheerful moment in the film takes place at funeral.

Please go watch it if you can, its one of the best films I've seen this year and brilliantly crafted in every way.
