Question Moving/Lighted Staff Help

Hi everyone! So, I'm working on an original design staff for my reshiram gijinka.(pokemon) Here's the problem: I want the top of the staff to look like a blue fire. Which of course is not going to be easy.
I remembered seeing a halloween blow up that had fans, lights, and cloth in it though and it looked perfect for what I want. So, I was thinking about making what is basically a snowglobe with a fan on a stick. ^^' Any ideas to help clarify this thought? I'm a complete noob at cosplay props in general; let alone moving, lighted props.

Please and thank you!

Any thoughts? I just remembered the height/length limits that cons imply so I also need to make this thing collapsible; preferably without leaving a highly visible seem. @_@

I've never done any work with staffs and the likes. If you have access to a 3D plastic printer you could use that to print the flames and have it hollow and just use blue LED's or whatever It won't move but there will be light. It would also save you the trouble of dealing with lots of moving things and power.

why not buy one of these:
I remembered seeing a halloween blow up that had fans, lights, and cloth in it though and it looked perfect for what I want.

and paint the cloth blue? or maybe replace it with blue cloth if it's not light enough.

If your con is after halloween, you can wait and get one pretty cheap

for a staff im making, I'm planning on using handles used for painting, where you can screw 1 into the other. It will work for travel, not sure if it will do what you're asking for here tho.

Hexedog: i'm not sure what that is but thank you for the input. ^^

Irarenovo: I would but it was a few years back that I saw it; and my local stores have yet to put out their halloween stuff. But I'll definitely look. Unfortunately this costume is for halloween so no good deals for me. XD It may... I have the PVC pipe already but I could maybe glue part of one inside it. Thank you!

A quick update; I actually found a UV reactive computer fan (3"x3") with a built in blue LED light! But my brother pointed out one flaw... The fan needs an intake and it's going inside a plastic ball/globe. ... ... Any ideas? Maybe just cut a few vents in the globe?

A few small, evenly spaced holes in the bottom should do it and be relatively unobstrusive.

That's what I was thinking; but I wasn't sure if that would be enough. Thanks!
