How to make Lightning's (Final Fantasy) armband?

I'd like to cosplay as her and getting the outfit and wig is no problem along with blue contacts. What I'm having trouble with is how to even make the arm band on her left arm.

Does anyone have any suggestions or a step-by-step thing I could go off of?

Here's a link of how it looks.

Please help. >:

Here there is mine with a short tutorial in the comments, they're only very short stripes, overlayed in a X shape and then interlaced.

Agreeing with Tifa’s advice.

It could also be done out of tooling leather – one piece, cut to shape, and then use a swivel knife to carve the crisscross pattern into it. Other than that material detail, I’d go with her instructions.
