Danny Phantom Cosplay Tips?

So I've been planning to cosplay as Danny Phantom to Megacon 2012 but I'm unsure on a few things. Should I go for a full-body spandex suit for the main part of the costume or should I try for a tight shirt and a pair of tights? (I'm a dude.) And as for the gloves, would it be wiser to get a pair of long white gloves (like wedding gloves or something) and modify it or should I make a pair of gloves from scratch (and how would I do it)? And finally, I'm really lost on the boots, what would you suggest? Sorry I have so many questions but I would truly appreciate if you guys (and girls) could throw me a bone.

few things. first this wont get seen as much here, but most likely itll just get moved to the right place so no worries there lol
next is help. here we go.
yes i say full body suit sounds like the best idea. you can actually sew on the DP symbol, the collar area and the white belt area. gloves: you should be able to find simple stretchy gloves online. not hard or even at a store since its getting to winter. lol just look for white long gloves. if they are TOO long just cut the ends and sew a hem. bots..umm..i think if you get some white plain leather boots or pleather boots that should be fine.
hope i helped ^_^

Thank you so much for your advice. I'm glad somebody responded so soon. And I agree, I like the full body suit more.

Since it hasn't been mentioned yet, I thought I might add some advice on how to apply the "D" to the costume.

http://crashcult.blogspot.com/2011/0...-tutorial.html

That link has been very helpful to me and the results are perfect. Follow those instructions, and the logo will stretch and flex and move with the rest of the costume, and it will look much better than a simple iron on.

Hi! I love Danny Phantom and made the costume for my husband years ago, so here's what I did...

Black unitard purchased from www.dance4less.com which is my absolute go-to website for leotards/unitards/dance belts, etc. I made the circular white part with attached collar out of white spandex and added it to the unitard by hand. The "D" and "belt" are also made with spandex. Back then, I hand-sewed the "D" on the front, but I wouldn't do that now. Now that I know better, I would cut the D from the spandex and then use Heat N Bond to place it and then satin stitch around it. But you live and learn! Anyway, I also made his boot covers out of the same spandex. We covered an old pair of his sneakers so that he would be comfortable. The gloves were long white prom gloves, since making gloves sucks and I would NEVER recommending it unless you have no choice.

Hope this helps!

Ok well in order, lol sure Jason, will do. Arlette, THANK YOU SO MUCH! I'm definitely gonna go with that unitard and the boots too. And wicked cool K8ri! My girlfriend is going as Sam with me. Hope to see you there! I'll keep my eyes open.

Actually, spandex gloves like his are really easy. Buying is certainly easiest, but if that's not an option, get a super stretchy (in all directions) spandex fabric, trace your hand and arm on it in "hand-turkey" style a few inches higher than you need it to go, and then sew on that line through two layers of fabric. Trim close to the stitches and turn right side out. It works super well and it's easy (but, like I said, not as easy as buying). We used this method before for cosplays... what I dreaded most took the least time in the end.

And good luck! I wish I had a group I could coerce to do Danny Phantom!
