Red's skirt's done! Plus, I cut out the petticoat fabric. Go me. And the petticoat fabric smells like that freshly laundered bounce sheet smell. <3 It's like to work with it like that.

Aww, well I hope it works out for you! Though, may it work out for you at a Winter convention because if your Red costume is as heavy and thick as mine, 'cause you will be dying of heat.

I swore it was Jack until the Jabberwocky comment, and then of course, I swore it was Alice. Heh.

I've been looking for an excuse to buy a hairy fur vest, so maybe I'll get one now, and pretend it for a Ruby "casual" cosplay.

I want to do a Mulan cosplay... Mulan has always been a favorite. I wanted to do Ping as well... I was so fearful when they announced Mulan that she would be horrible... but she turned out to be more awesome than I could have asked. (with that said... there are probably haters out there, huh? LOL)

Okay so after lusting after all of the costumes in OUAT I'm just going to take the plunge back into the world of cosplay with Belle's "Skin Deep" blue dress. However, I've run into a bit of a problem: inconsistent ref. pictures.

The blue changes color depending on the lighting

I'm inclined to go with the brighter blue of the outdoor shot simply because the lighting is the best in that one, but I'd like to hear some different opinions.
Also, is her dress one piece, similar to a kirtle, or a seperate bodice and skirt? So confused

It's a separate bodice and skirt. The skirt is linen. The grommets are light gold (I made that mistake with mine, because the DVDs weren't out yet so I missed all of this wonderful info.) The inconsistencies with the color is definitely the lighting and filters they use, but probably go with the shade from outside since that's more natural lighting. If you notice, she is laced into the bodice differently in the dungeon scene and I think it's because they all get two of the same costume...one for stunts and one for close-ups and non-stunts. If that's the version she wore to get thrown into the dungeon, it might be the "stunt" costume and someone accidentally laced it differently. I did mine like it was for the rest of the episode, with the laces forming an "x" shape.

Not that I can think of unfortunately. I haven't had the chance to look at all of the extra features, but I don't remember any featurette just about the costumes of the show.

The costume I remember getting the most coverage was Belle's blue dress actually. They talked about how the bodice and skirt were made of two different fabrics and all that. But I don't remember much on any of the other costumes sadly.

where do they talk about the two different fabrics with belle? I can never seem to find that clip.

to me it looks like her skirt is a thin linen (due to all the gathering at the waistband) and her bodice is a thicker linen??
