Wow. Those photos from the Costume Guild are wonderful though there are tantalizing glimpse of other outfits from the show in the background. I wonder why there are no images of the fairy or Charming's doublet. The mitering of the fabric pattern on Abigail's dress is masterful.
I want to make Charming's outfit but I'm not even sure what color it really is. Some pictures it looks blue but it can also look black or brown. Also, I'm not sure how the closure is supposed to work. Three pairs of grommets wouldn't keep it closed without gaps. The hardware on the belt came from Tandy leather but I didn't see anything like those silly grommets.
My husband and I do historical reenactments so I made him a doublet out of blue grey wool and reddish trim with Charming's clothes in mind. Since I couldn't find grommets that worked I just used buttons. (The original costumer's sketch had buttons. grrrrrrrrr) Here he is.
I think the wool is a good color but the trim is too red. The shirt and leggings are based on historical patterns for one of our events and have nothing to do with OUAT. I'll make the right sleeves and trousers eventually. If I come across leather the right color I might make another go at the doublet now that I have a pattern.
I want to make Snow's bandit outfit for myself. Faraday's is so cool. We have a fairy tale themed party to go to at Halloween. Its been years since either of us have been to a con but if I get these done we'll have to go. I've been doing historical costuming for years but this is my first cosplay. It has reinvigorated my interest in sewing.
