So apparently it is what it says it is. The material is high-temperature resistant silk, I guess.
This is the wig that I bought: Fashion Anime Burgundy Long Hair Wig Cosplay Wigs wig
Product picture This.
I decided to risk melting my new wig today to find out what this "high temperature silk" material is like. I straightened it with a regular hair straightener and it turned out fine. The fibers are extremely soft to the touch (it feels like touching my own hair <3) and did not melt even though sometimes the heat left on the fibers from the straightener burned my fingers.
- 10$ basic Revlon hair straightener
- Rat-tailed comb, which you're actually NOT supposed to use, but worked just fine with this wig
I set the wig up on a lamp cause I didnt have a wig head and straightened it as I would have with my own hair. I sectioned the hair and combed it to get the tangles out since it was curly/wavy and my friends messed with it a bit. Starting from the bottom, I tested the iron out on "low" setting (there's only "high" or "low") and found that it was not hot enough to straighten the fibers. I then changed it to "high" settings and did the bottom first. The fibers untangled pretty much by themselves afterward and I went back to work on the top/ the rest of the wig.
(sorry for horrible phone pics. Didn't plan on a review, plus I didnt have a camera on me lol )
See the mess/fluff?
The un-straightened section
And just for kicks, this
is as much of a closet cosplay as it can get lol. Yay Yoko!
And now I am styling it into KH2 Kairi :> Wish me luck! Pictures soon~
