I'm not super familiar with the show/lore/characters (though my wife is) so I won't be so good at directing your posing. Please think about your poses in advance for the individual portraits; dramatic poses make for dramatic photos, and we'll need to move things along a little quickly so that everyone gets a chance And, if you're not good at posing yourself, I can happily guide and direct with some generic pose types that work well for many characters.

Wonderful, thank you so much! I'll come up with a game plan as far as photos are concerned so that we can go through everything quickly.

And that's too bad about Red Riding Hood. But ours would be more likely to eat you than steal your money. ^_~

The game plan in advance is definitely a great idea. With a group that size, there's a fine line between wrangling the crowd in such a way that everyone is included, and being a mean ol' drill sergeant that's just barking orders and making it not fun.

If we can prep a list of all the desired sub-groups in advance, we should be able to run through them pretty quickly, if everyone cooperates. Either an electronic list that we send/text to everyone, or a handful of copies of a printed list. Or both.

I might be able to set up my backup camera on a tripod with one light, and have someone (trustworthy) there to mash the shutter button - that would work well for getting portraits of individuals and pairs quickly, while I work on the posed sub-group shots (all the Emmas etc).

My wife has a background in stage show direction and production, so she's pretty proficient about moving things along. If we get a couple Mountain Dews in her, she'll certainly be able to help run the show so I can concentrate on making good photos.

SO EXCITING! Now I'm thinking I should go to the local props store and pick up a plastic Excalibur kind of sword for all the Emmas to dramatically pose with. What do y'all think?

Do you want me to bring one? I have two toy swords that have the exact right shape. The only problem is that they're small-ish because of course they're for kids.

I just have to say that not only was this the most positive cosplay meetup/photoshoot I've ever been to, but Nathan's photos were absolutely stunning and he was great to work with. Looking forward to 2013!!

I had a blast putting Emma Swan together for last year (I have some of Nathan's photos of the cosplay in my galleries) but I have been talked into cosplaying Storybrooke Regina for D*C 13 by several people. But I'll be honest and say they didn't have to twist my arm too hard.
