Chobit ears help!

I used to have a pair of the foam, persocom ears that I bought off ebay, but they didn't have the feel of chii's ears even though they were fine for pictures and they ended up ripping and coming unglued after only a few uses. I'm looking at a pair of plastic, chobit ears online, which seem to be the only other option I could find. For anyone who's actually purchased/tried them on, I wanted to know if they're comfortable to wear and my main concern: can you actually hear out of them?

I've heard stories of cosplayers who had purchased a pair of lovely ears and when they put them on, they couldn't hear anything out of them and it was kind of a nightmare. I'd rather not find out the hard way.

Please and thank you in advance! :0)

I've never bought or worn any, but my brother made my best friend's ears out of wonderflex several years back and yes, she did have a lot of trouble hearing out of them, especially in really loud environments. They also caused her to talk much louder since she couldn't hear herself as well. She had no complaints about the comfort of them though.

Wonderflex is a plastic that is heat moldable and doesn't require glue because when heated it adheres to itself.

Here's what here ears looked like when my brother was done: http://www.cosplay.com/photo/1560929/

I know this is a bit late, but my friend got a pair and let me try them on. I could still hear but it made things sound a little far away and echoy. They were quite comfortable, though!

I would just go with making the foam ones if you found them comfortable. Especially if the plastic ones are somewhat expensive. They look easy and cheap to make. If you're going to a con make an extra pair and bring them as well in case they rip.
I just watched a great tutorial on youtube.
