Those Animal Hats with attached mittens???

Animal hats are P.O.P.U.L.A.R.!!!!! I have an owl hat with the little braids and tassles, and its super awesome, everyone loves it!!

But I'd like one of those furry hood-like hats with the scarf and mittens (paws) attached to it!! Those are like around $30 for one at Hot Topic, and they look pretty easy to make.... But does anyone know how you make the hat/hood part, and is the scarf and mittens all one piece with the hat part?

I just made one of those
I did it this way: quick and dirty way ._.;
Cut out a hood (I have a patterns but tracing a hood from any of your coats onto some news paper is the way I did this one :3 )
measure from your shoulder to the tips of your fingers and cut out the scarf part that legnth. how wide it is depends on your hand and if you want to open your fingers. you will need 4 scarf peices.

now here is where it's a bit diffrent
I sew the scarf peices 2 and 2 and attatch them to the hood about 2 inches from the front edge (to line up with my sholders so they go down my arm with out pulling)
To make it a mitten I just cut a slit at about 10 inches so it's like a pocket and hand sewed a paw pad to it :3 and it has bear ears

it could be all one peice if you have fabric that long :3 I'm sure there are other ways to make it . it could be as simple as making a really long scarf and sewing the middle enought to make a hood them add paw pockets

A hood is basically a rectangle and the back is curved .

Making a pattern is easy.
just grab a coat with a hood and turn it inside out
put it on a peice of paper
Trace around the hood on 3 sides (where it meets the neck line I draw a straight conneting line instead)

(I'm on my way to work so I can draw and upload anything)
but try this http://khalida59.freeservers.com/drafting.html under HOW TO SEW AND ATTACH A HOOD about in the middle of the page
